For you guys who this happened to, what age were you when it happened?  Is it a gradual injury wearing over time, or does it just happen?

Not giving advice concerning surgery. Just telling my experience. My right shoulder throbbed for awhile and was really stiff. Then my left shoulder went. I was doing pullups. Pain was a 10 out of a 10. I thought I was going to pass out when I moved my arm. I saw an orthopedic surgeon and he did an MRI. Told me I had a torn labrum on my left arm. I remembered how long it took me to regain strength back in my arm after getting a complete bicep rupture repaired where my bicep rolled up my arm like into a ball to my delt.  I held off on the shoulder operation and the pain began to dissipate.

This was about 2 years ago. Where am I now. I can barely bench without pain and weakness. When I use dumbbells I can find a sweet spot by twisting the dumbbells. I use to hit the heavy bag and now it's a rare event.  I really want to hit it regular but I don't think my shoulder could take it. I see many guys that have minor shoulder operations and they are back in the gym benching in 3 months. I'm just wary since my complete bsicep rupture and the length of time and work it took me to get back.

You should start using steroids/GH

15-16 years old, often caused by blunt trauma (at least in my case).

MVA, head on at 65 mpr, kid crossed the median and we went corner to corner seat belt held body but the shoulder and arm pulled forward and dislocated ripping the labrum....I was 40...

This time overwork or when I was kicking 85s dumbbell on incline up....in truth I don't know what I did to re-tear it.

18 yr old was underinsured, it cost me 10k to get shoulder surgery and money down on a new truck above what his insurance paid out....mine covered most of the surgery but not the truck difference.
