I think post gains are a reality.
Check out the ABCDE diet that can be found. It explains some very interesting things.

But that window is 3ish weeks max. Then, gotta switch gears.

I rember that was first time I tried eating properly, seemed to work amazingly well for first few cycles but I can say it was that diet since I'd never ate properly beforehand

My wieght has kinda flattened out at 230 for the past couple weeks and I noticed that I'm not as tight as i was a few weeks ago. So Monday I start a "mini diet" down to 215ish then start the process over again. It's a interesting concept that makes sense in paper. With sensitivity leveks and keep your methaboism from stalling

Dropping 15lbs of all that solid dense muscle you have gained?

I was already very serious into this eating 6x's a day when I did it. Say I missed a meal by 15 min, I'd freak the hell out.

It works in a sense as you mentioned, most don't have a set plan. This forces you to be on "q"... Also, any diet phase when you start the process of gaining or losing is always the most effective in the beginning. The body adapts quickly and usually the longer you diet, the less effective it becomes for either goal.

Depending on a person's type of schedule/lifestyle, this diet can work. I've even done 5 days of higher, then 5 days of lower type diets to maintain after having cut down. Stuff like that...

Nobody really knows how well this diet works as nobody ever took it past a few cycles. I think i did 3 bulk/cutters back to back. The cut was too extreme for me, I got a cold. At the end of the bulk, you were ready to puke. The first 5 days of either cycle were the best and most appreciated.

I wonder how it would work out say if done for a full year. Would the person doing 2 on, 2 off look better than the usual regimen?

A lot of people on here say it's bullshit.  I myself thought it was a bunch of bs until I after my show and we got it hard. The results speak for themselfs the pic on the left was the first day of my prep jan 1. The pic on the right is today. You can see even with the 3 month caloric restrictive diet. I have made leaps and bounds in my appearance.

I believe that at the end of prep your sensitivities are ultra high and your metabolism is a machine at that point. Your body after being restricted for so long is just ready to grow. You can argue the theory but the results speak for them selfs.  I'm currently a fairly tight 232
I really wish I  could smash your face with a wooden mallet.

your insulin sensitivity improves as you lower your BF and lower carb intake thus you can utilize food in a more efficient matter
