Dude, he earns $1M from his GN partnership or whatever arrangement he has with the owners?
He's killing an avg bench warmer in the NBA.
By his 1st Mr O, he was probably pulling 500k yearly
Phil didn't "love" bodybuilding his whole life. He loved basketball. Bodybuilding was an "end of college, meet someone from the industry, get jacked quick, do shows, discover a talent for it, and then crash with jay and learn protocols for top tier success". It happened when his ball career ended and he could go no further.
At night, I'm sure he's watching 1998 NBA Finals replays, not 1998 Olympia Finals replays.
If we asked Phil, "would you accept 98% of your current pay, and be an NBA player instead", I'm certain his answer would be yes. From there, it's just a matter of how much of a % cut he'd take. Many people take decent pay cuts to do something they love. In my opinion, Phil would much rather be making a little less, and doing something he loved, without all the toxic rigors and oily crudeness of pro BBing.
