What I did in there? No.

I treated ppl fairly. In prison I ran a store, ran sports books, loan sharked, etc... If somebody owed money is be reasonable... If they were disrespectful (such as owing me $30 for 5weeks yet they're sitting across from me eating 2 extra cheeseburgers or smoked sausages) then things are different. Usually if I loaned somebody $10 and with interest they owe me $100, instead of beating them up and getting nothing.. I'd sell the debt for $50 and let than other guy do whatever he wanted....but id always be reasonable with them.

If I found out somebody was a child molestor or sex offender period of tell'em "pack your shit and get the fuck out. I'm goin to work and you should be gone when in get back".

Harley Brighte here on GetBig (ms?) said men do not get raped in prison as often as rumored.  What's your take on it, having been on the inside?

Also, I read it's not wise to get involved in debts, gambling, etc., as that leads to confrontation which leads to vengeance from other inmates.  True/false.  If so, why'd you engage in such illicit activity?

Why not just use lighters as lighters. Some of the most popular contraband in every jail/prison.

Or try this: Get three guys and sit on a bunk. All three guys must have their feet off the floor. Each guy must be holding one cigarette. Have one guy toss one cigarette on the floor, thereby making the bunk, a cigarette lighter.

Lighters were rare.

Tobacco/chew used to come in via ppls assholes or guy a wrapped in balloons or packed inside handballs thrown over the fence.

There are other ways but not as common.

"Tailor" cigs were $8each whereas "pinners" cigs (top tobacco wrapped in bible paper) were $3.. Thumbnail of dip wrapped in a trashbag was $5 and lol more than double that was $10. You could pay $50 for a can worth of Grizzly dip and make $80 profit on it. Porn was huge too.. I'd pay $20 for a full mag from a guy who owed money.. Put packing tape over every page to "laminate it" and rent it out $5/hour.. After a while if cut out individual pics and sell'em for $3-5 a piece. And eventually the guys would end up owing me money and is get the pics back and resell them. Lol... I th I k lighters would go for about $15-20

Gotcha ES.  California pens always had lighters floating around. Came in from guards, visiting day visitors, camp inmates returning to the main yard, free-staff employees.  Jails? Not so much.

At California pens not much gets "thrown over the wall." From the outer perimeter wall to the yard is never less than 100 yards and that includes double fences, towers, and cameras.

What do you do if you are a regular guy in there on a regular charge?  How do you survive with such animals?  Just quiet and stay low, stay to yourself?

Pretty much. If you don't fuck with anybody nobody usually fucks with you. We could tell who "Joe regular" was and knew who wasn't cut out from the same cloth. Also if people knew or thought you didn't give a shit and could/would hurt'em bad, they wouldn't fuck with you. Prison was easy for me cuz like i said, in treated ppl fair, but they also knew I had a big crime (robbery, swat standoff, etc....) & I was big and could/would hurt somebody if I wanted to. I might've lost a fight, but the other person was getting hurt/embarrassed in the process. For instance a guy came up behind me and put a rear naked choke on me.. Didn't put me out but he wouldn't let go... So every time I walked past him if kick him in the stomach or back of the head with boots on (not in the face.. No marks) and eventually I choked him out, laid him down in the middle of the aisle and too his pants and boxers off. Guard walked by him doing rounds and just shook his head and kept on going... Guy wakes up laying naked from the waist down in front of everybody. Lol. Learned his lesson. (Guy was a sex offender btw.... Did that same thing multiple times btw. Got then point across. I was a legit mma guy who'd rolled with pan-am games medalists and I could hurt you if i wanted, but generally didn't. Nobody wants to wake up naked on the floor in prison.)

Thanks buddy. Don't miss it at all, but when you're in u just kinda roll with it. Before you know it 60months have passed and you're amazed at all the colors in the refrigerators at am/pm. Lol

I'm a producer/supplier... Also personal trainer/sports nutritionist. Been doing this professionally now for 17yrs. Really can't beat experience/knowledge even with my background, even though I check "no" to felonies. Even if they find out, which they have, I've never been fired for it.

Smelled like bleach where i was. Lol.

They'd turn the water temp down in the winter and up in the summer so we wouldn't shower too long. Summer it was super humid where i was. So humid there'd be water dripping down the walls. Youd shower, towel off and by the timenyoure back to your bunk youre covered in sweat. 100+ degrees outside and 95%+ humidity. So it'd be 110+ inside with the showers running... And they'd charge $30 for a fan. I always got mine black market and paid $5 for them and sandpapered serial numbers off lol. Only got 2 confiscated. In the winter had to wake up at 5am and walk 300yards through 2ft of snow to get meds (t4 and klonopin till I got caught selling them.. Then just t4)
