Big Crossfit plates - what do they really weigh?
« on: September 13, 2017, 05:55:06 AM »
For instance the ones that look like 45 pound weights, what do they weigh?  It seems to me they must be only around 20 pounds...

In Crossfit they generally use Rogue plates. Red = 55LB, Blue = 45LB, Yellow = 35LB, and Green = 25LB. Some of the women's olympic bars are 35lbs.

Green = 25LB.

Cheers, I guess that's the one I meant.

When they are trying to teach Olympic lifting in Crossfit to elderly or non athletes they use those light weight bumper plates because they are the same size as a metal 45lbs.  My daughter is a doctor and just trains to stay in shape. No desire to compete in anything. She uses the bar with those 10lbs or 15lbs plates to learn Olympic lifting.

This is correct.

Plus, if you're doing high rep work or reps for time, having the bar at the "45s" height is beneficial, rather than having it lower the ground.

Did you feel threatened by young girls on YouTube cleaning and pressing them off the floor?
