Losing 1 pound a week is actually a great way to get lean- your body doesn't go through shock that higher weight loss levels can trigger. But your math seems to not make any sense. An average guy between the ages of 30-60 easily burns 2500 calories a day unless they are very small or very sedentary. You said you work out so I don't think it's sedentary. What weight did you start at?
For comparison, I weigh 190-200 at 5'9". When I am super lean I am in the mid to high 170's. That's less than 8% BF ( i had it hydrostatically tested). I burn 2500-3000 calories a day in maintenance mode. Going to 2200-2300 or so a day I lose about a pound a week. At 2000 its 2+ pounds.
You're blinding him with science...
Seriously though, in case he's not trolling or anyone is really interested here's a link to a site that does it for you rather than fucking with the equation
https://www.active.com/fitness/calculators/bmrI think your statement about a guy 30-60 burning 2500 cals easily is a slight stretch, but I think we say things based on how we are. You're likely in shape, have been active consistently, and taller. I look like shit right now, but for the average person my age I'm doing better than, and everyone around me is commenting on the changes I've made, but my bmr is only 1738. Granted I'm short, but I'm still "built" compared to the average person, and weighed 190 today. My metabolism is like molasses.
My eating routine, aka diet, calls for between 2300-2375 per day, but I very rarely get in 2 food meals let alone the 3 + shake I'm supposed to.
