how am i failing?

Go re-read my post in your other thread about my results so far.  Then come back and re-read that you've lost 10lbs in 10 weeks, and yet you have zero clue how much of that is fat....so you're right to ask, cuz actually now that I've typed that I realize you're failing in two ways.  If you'd been tracking you bf% instead of weight it would likely be 3 as you've surely lost muscle too.

This thread title is the gayest way of saying “I’m no longer a fat sack of utter shit” ive ever heard. Losing weight is not an achievement as you shouldn’t have been fat in the first place

i dont know which thread youre talking about.

the only fat ive left to lose is some on my lower back and lower abs, typical as it's the last to go. i expect to get rid of that shortly.

next time ill hire chris aceto.

losing fat is as important to bodybuilding as building muscle is.

Losing 1 pound a week is actually a great way to get lean- your body doesn't go through shock that higher weight loss levels can trigger. But your math seems to not make any sense. An average guy between the ages of 30-60 easily burns 2500 calories a day unless they are very small or very sedentary. You said you work out so I don't think it's sedentary. What weight did you start at?

For comparison, I weigh 190-200 at 5'9". When I am super lean I am in the mid to high 170's. That's less than 8% BF ( i had it hydrostatically tested). I burn 2500-3000 calories a day in maintenance mode. Going to 2200-2300 or so a day I lose about a pound a week. At 2000 its 2+ pounds.

You're blinding him with science...

Seriously though, in case he's not trolling or anyone is really interested here's a link to a site that does it for you rather than fucking with the equation https://www.active.com/fitness/calculators/bmr

I think your statement about a guy 30-60 burning 2500 cals easily is a slight stretch, but I think we say things based on how we are.  You're likely in shape, have been active consistently, and taller.  I look like shit right now, but for the average person my age I'm doing better than, and everyone around me is commenting on the changes I've made, but my bmr is only 1738.  Granted I'm short, but I'm still "built" compared to the average person, and weighed 190 today.  My metabolism is like molasses.

My eating routine, aka diet, calls for between 2300-2375 per day, but I very rarely get in 2 food meals let alone the 3 + shake I'm supposed to.

You're diet one I believe....if I'm wrong it's the who uses protein thread instead.  Both are towards the end of the thread.  Have fun reading about my incredible bench press achievements recently.....I did go up 20 lbs for 10 reps though (HULK SMASH! ::))

in what universe is getting a six pack in 12 weeks, without training or drugs, considered a failure?

bros, ive been dieting now for almost 3 months, im still not where i wanna be, hold a little fat around the mid section, but i can see the finish line!

this is exciting indeed!

because after that follows an even greater race as im preparing myself for hypertrophy!

starving myself for this long it will be very interesting to see how my body responds when i go into full training mood and add 700 or so calories to my diet, most of which will be protein!

will also be interesting to see how the body look when you're training with low body fat levels, i think that's a motivation in itself... no wonder people who are constantly bulking never train abs etc...

if you havent dieted, maybe now is a good time to start, maybe you dont need to do it for 3 months like me. or maybe you do, but then you can look forward to the season of hypertrophy come this fall.

Would it be a good idea to add back those 700 calories gradually?

For various reasons, I currently weigh less than I have for most of my adult life. I'm not dieting per se, but I am eating smaller meals and paying more attention to the nutritional values. My carb intake is way down from what I imagine it was when my wife was alive. I'm coasting at 165 lbs right now and I feel great. What I need to do is gradually get back to a regular workout routine so I can rebuild some of the muscle I've lost. I'm will continue not worrying about weight and instead concentrate on how fit I look.
