I’ve benched slightly over 500 years ago at around 250-260. Now around 215 and don’t care about heavy weight any more I do high reps with 175-205 and feel my chest much better than when benching heavy.

Anyway 350 for 2 is a damn good bench. I say when I see anyone bench 275+ Good form that they are strong.

Thanks rob I know it’s no record but I thought it was respectable I agree with you I do high rep sets with less weight now and feel it works chest better anyway I am also using about the same weight as you which makes sense same body weight. But hell no I could never get to 250lbs and press 500 that’s awesome

People live and die by their barbell bench press numbers it seems. I never got much out of it- probably because I have relatively long arms and so am mechanically disadvantaged. I hit 285 and that was enough. So yeah, I'm thrown out of the GetBig club, lol

But for chest development, which I am after, the use of dumbbells gives far better pectoral development. Most likely because I can turn my wrists and place my elbows in a position that feels far more natural. I never get injured using DBs because all that balancing required, plus being able to actually get the dbs in position, tends to limit the weight I use.

I agree.

I also have long arms and struggle with bench press. My squat and deadlift numbers are more impressive.

When i learned to bench press like a power lifter and tucked the elbows in with a narrow grip, my numbers when up quickly.

Just not worth the risk of injury.

I haven't done a heavy BB press in 4 years. Mainly DB's from now on at a slight incline.

I'd be impressed by anyone on here that can do a strict clean and "press" with 315 or more.

I did 335 many years ago. Collar bone to full lockout, no assistance from the legs.

Not a jerk, but a strict military style press.

I find that a better function of real strength.

Standing overhead presses are not for the weak.

I’ll be more impressed by someone doing upright rows, straight form, with 405

That would crush me to dust right now hahaha

335 like that is crazy strong.

I did 315 seated press, down to just above collarbone by about an inch many years ago. Standing the most I think I ever tried was 265 and that was very tough.

Me too, my arms wouldn't handle that weight today.

I always did them standing because seated overhead presses messed with my lower back for some reason.

A few weeks ago i did a strict overhead press with 245. Not sure i can do much more and don't care anymore either. ;D

Saw a power lifter i used to train with overhead press 385 pretty easily. Crazy strong.

I've got to think Bhanky strict military pressed 400 at least.

Will wait for him to comment.

In any event, if you can't do it right now, you ain't sh*t.

Pile driving a local bjj black belt through a Matt proves nothing that is not what you do in a bjj dojo you play it is not Greco Roman training you are not supposed to go 100 and slam people

They also spar at the end of every class but you have to go through an hour of letting some white belt drill shoulder locks on you before you get to roll with the blackbelts Nd I don’t feel like having some white belt twist surgically repaired arm and shoulder  for an hour asking if I can feel it yet no thanks
blah blah blah….excuses excuses
