I got this book almost 50 years ago.  He was a fascinating guy and was an early film-maker.

When I was a kid I attended a magic show and got to know the magician.  He had known Mrs. Houdini, who held séances for ten years trying to contact her departed.

Yes he was known to be incredibly flexible.

Also, it was later revealed by those close to him that he deliberately worked big callouses onto the palms of his hands and the bottom of his feet where he would hide small pieces of lock picking kits and/or master keys that were broken down in to multiple parts that he would extract and reassemble while underwater or whatever to make his escape.  Even by today standards the dude was way ahead of his game.
