I watched this guy at the gym incline 315 for 15 then went all the way up and did 475 for 6 and then at the end did a burn-out with 225 for probably 50+ reps.  Craziest thing I have ever seen.

there arent more than a handful of guys who could use dorian's poundages with HIS FORM.  huge difference.

in his first book, there are picutres of him doing various lifts, heavier than i've seen vids or pics.  ex., bent over rows with a reverse grip using 475.
nailed it on the head

Exactly.  Gunter gets up to 345 in the offseason and can probably only bench press his body weight for a working set of eight reps at that weight.  I assure you he has never lifted that much precontest.

Doing your body weight for reps on the incline is ok, but nothing spectacular.  Gunter obviously has the genetics built for mass and not strength.  If you want to talk strong, see Bertil Fox.

how do you know how much gunter can lift

I've never seen him lift more than 335 on any pressing movement in any video I've seen of him and I've seen them all.  The fact he is precontest and depleted is offset by the fact that he is being filmed and consciously training with more intensity.

Gunter, in general, is not particularly strong for his size and this really isn't open for debate.

You mean you don't want to debate it? Ok then I guess we won't. You're the expert.

I can't picture a 345 fairly lean man, juiced up etc, benching just his bodyweight, he can't be that weak - not offseason.

I don't think you're following - it's like debating 1+1.  It's needless and not worth our time.  Gunter seems strong in the grip strength though.  In all fairness, Gunter has long limbs which makes for a more challenging range of motion, although that never really hurt Ronnie.

If it's not worth YOUR time then don't post

Relax dude.  Nobody is arguing that Gunter is strong.  What is being said here is that he is not that strong relative to his mass and body weight, e.g., pound for pound strength.

Yeah I know.  But I've yet to see or hear about him doing more than that.  He does have gorilla arms though, so maybe benching just isn't his thing.  Pretty well all pros are strong, but some are stronger or weaker than others.

It could be that he doesnt go all out - doesn't want to get injuries etc.

talking about gunter, is that old question.  would you rather look really strong and not be that strong or be very strong and not look very strong.

ex. ed coan - doesnt look like much - esp. of the greatest powerlifters ever or gunter - looks huge but not really strong at all.

Maybe Gunter just holds back on video because he doesn't want people to try to lift as much as he could and injure themselves! Maybe because he's a really nice and sweet guy, you ever think about that?

I would prefer to look like Gunter.  He's got the height, the size, the looks - if anything I would downsize a little bit if I was him because he would still look strong.  Gunter is a great spokesman for bodybuilding.

Gunther is the shit.

To many people are overly concerned about strenght unless you're a powerlifter . Arnold was lucky if he benched over 400 and his chest was among the best ever bodybuilding isn't about maximum poundages .

"his form"? hahahaha, his "rows" were like long shrugs.

And that must be why his back development sucked so bad...   ::)
