agree with you partly here, in the 70's and 80's Italians influenced a huge amount of pop culture, The food, movies, mafia, and charm were all emulated by middle class whites in middle america. However that was back in the 70's and 80's. It seems middle america pop cultural sensibilities are derivative of edgy 'dangerous' urban ghetto cultures. It used to be Italian but now it is black and gay, yes gay. Most white suburban guys are sporting gay and black trends and lingo that were big here 5-10 years ago. For some reason white middle class men feel a need to align themselves with gritty, edgy, outsider rebelious type cultures.
