Om thinking we would attack them, but perhaps not bc we are so spread out right now, and weak.

It really puts the US in a catch-22 situation, ...because of N. Korea's ties to China. In addition, if N. Korea were to try anything, ...China stands to gain the most. a North Korean collapse would only solidify and enhance China's power in the region, which in turn diminishes US power in the Middle East due to Iran's ties to China. You would not have another war, ...because you have no troops to fight it.

we have PLENTY more troops available, we'd only need a draft and we'd have MILLIONS of troops available if our national existence was threatened.
however....the only hope we would have against china is to somehow get India on our side. otherwise they would beat us-they have over 250 million potential troops  :o FAR,FAR more than we could ever muster.

We've come closer then this to war with the NK's. Nothing will happen..China does not want any economic upset in their sphere of influence. China would rather have em collapse and have the South take over. A stable and sane economic trading partner on their border would be much better for them.

Agree.

I'm sure China will handle North Korea, if the rest of the world let them.

Personally, I'd like to see UN be involved, but I doubt that China will allow that.

But as HHS points out, North Korea in its current state is only a problem to China. They have no economic resources and is politically unstable.

China is pissed.

North Korea is totally isolated on this one.

Hopefully, they will remain that way. The UN Security Council is to discuss the situation today, hopefully they'll give the Chinese the lead on this.

Massive double standards in operation - the North Koreans test a Weapon of Mass Destruction and the US does fcuk all - yet they plunder Iraq and Afghanistan and what for? (Besides the oil of course)  >:(
