foreman simply kept pounding away with wide swinging arm punches against ali, punches that ali simply put himself in position to let the loosened ropes take a lot of the force.

foreman was so sure he break through that he just kept pounding away exactly the same way over and over. he didn't throw a single uppercut or combination.

frazier, on the other hand, was significantly shorter than foreman and was able to give ali fits. difference is that tyson is not going to just walk straight in bobbing up and down like joe, he's going to come in bobbing and weaving, lateral movement, slipping the jab left and right and dropping bombs in combos with pin point accuracy. ropes won't help ali when tyson throws those devastating uppercuts and hooks in close.

tyson = more power, defence, arsenal and speed than frazier and arguably a better chin.

tyson = far more speed foot, hand, better accuracy, defence, ring savvy than george

No the fastest hand award goes to Cassius Clay when he beat Liston with an invisible jab.

I believe both you and Alexx should cash in on this oppurtunity.  You will gain much needed notoriety.   :D  Maybe both of you should contact Marcus Avellan and fight Kimbo Slice first.  Kimbo is looking for more bareknuckle fights.   :)

Hmmmm...Tyson would walk through Kimbo "home slice" with no problem.  So...yeah, he would be a good warm up for Alexxx and TA!

Mike Tyson with Kevin Rooney in his corner was unbeatable.  Ali could beat everyone else, he was the most talented heavyweight OAT.  But, a young Mike with Rooney, was on another level in terms of speed and power combination.

A prime Ali would murder a prime Tyson.

Discuss.

And what if I refuse?

Why don't you read your statistic ? Mike build his reputation via beating up some bums and dilettantes, guys with just about zero experience of pro boxing. In Ali's days that didn't go like that.

Can't believe I actually agree with alexx.  The phantom punch has to be the fastest.

I would mention the fight was a staged event, the fix was in, and everyone got rich on it - and I'd play the video clip proving a man feel from no punch - but I'd be called a crazy conspiracy theorist.

yes, it was absolutely ludicrous to even imagine that liston would stay on the canvas from that punch legitemately.

liston had one of greatest chins ever. the man was a mule and had been hit plenty harder than that. it was the first fucking round and he was fresh as a daisy.

liston was well and truly in the mafia's pocket and the mafia had enormous control over pro boxing at the time. he was actually used as a heavy by them back in the day.

it has been proven that liston actually bet against himself winning that fight and had somewhat of a financial interest in ali's future career prior to the fight.

He was running up Desert Inn Ave and looking to get back in shape.  I called a buddy who knows him and supposedly he's gearing up for a new reality type show which is in negotiation kinda like tuffman.  Since everyone has said that they would fight Mike Tyson for a million bucks, he's willing to take that bet!  Infact, the show is supposed to pay 1 million to anyone who can beat him!  I'm sure it will be boxing rules and no pros/amatuers!  Tyson has agreed to do up to 5 fights a night with three, 3 minute rounds!

Does anyone on here now think they can take him?

You must be fucking joking....

Any amateur who thinks they'll beat Tyson in that format is insane.

It's not so much a matter of beating him as much as avoiding one of those bombs he throws.

You take a kid off the street and throw him in with Tyson it would only take one good shot to drop him.....

Tyson may be finished as a boxer, but he'll have that punching power until the end of time.

I totally agree with you.  It blows my mind how out of whack this thread got!  First of all, you know both parties would probably have headgear on and probably 16oz gloves which means someones likely hood of getting Tyson in trouble is non-existent!  Chances are better of hitting the Lotto under these circumstances vs beating Tyson!  A left hooking style jab he does followed by one crisp body shot and 99 out of 100 go down!

You couldn't pay me enough money to fight Tyson.....

Not just the very real possibility of getting KO'd but the possible biting that could take place.

I remember someone talking about Tyson stealing some guy's burrito here in Phoenix before a fight...

How many people out there are going to argue with Tyson if he takes your food?

This isn't Cormier stealing Lee Priest's bucket of chicken here, we're talking serious bodily harm.  :-\

There is no doubt in my mind that Ali would have had problems with mike in his prime.

Styles make fights and Ali had lots of problems with a fighter whose style is a lot like tysons - Joe Frazier.

Now i have no idea who would win, Ali or Tyson but there is no doubt it would not be as one sided as a lot of people think.

It would take a couple of bruisers like butterbean to soften him up and tire him out...
