Saw Mike Tyson Today and...

There is no doubt in my mind that Ali would have had problems with mike in his prime.

Styles make fights and Ali had lots of problems with a fighter whose style is a lot like tysons - Joe Frazier.

Now i have no idea who would win, Ali or Tyson but there is no doubt it would not be as one sided as a lot of people think.

It would go down like this....

Ali would win the fight on points or Tyson would win in KO.

Either way, Ali would take some serious punishment.

A prime Tyson had great defense and could get inside on anyone.

I truly believe that Ali might dance around enough to last in the later rounds, but it would only take one barrage from Tyson to end Ali's night.

Tyson hit harder than Frazier......and he was devastating once he got inside.

I don't think Ali had the power to KO Tyson....esp with his head movement and defense.

I'd have to put my money on Tyson....KO within 6 rounds.

Ali could dance but Tyson had some aggressive inside moves.  Once Tyson got Ali against the ropes or the corner....it would be curtains.

Actually it was allot of Don Kings fault.  He handled Mike financial affairs allott of the time.  In addition the percentages he took of the purse were outrageous.  Thats what he is famous for.  Ask Foreman and others. King was a felon and still is.  Mike was stupid for getting invovled with him but if you wanted a title shot then you got to play the game.  Should have never got rid of Rooney.  He got involved with idiots that didn't know shit or care.  All they wanted was his money.  Really is too bad.  His pad in vegas was just unreal.  He shared a condo in BH with King.  He bought all his friends Rolls Royce's and Rolex watches. Oh well he probably thought the money train would never stop.

absolutely correct...tyson was too damn aggressive and too fast when he was in his prime..hell even lennox lewis said that he would have got beaten by mike tyson if he fought him when he was in his early twenties.mike was a force to be reckon with..he would have whooped that disco dancings alis ass under 6 rounds.mike was like a wild animal in his prime..

kimbo is a tough mofo. no doubt, i'll give him his due. quite durable too, but his skills are very limited for the type of fighting he's currently doing.

he has no idea what to do in a clinch, nil takedown defence, nil sprawl, absolutely clueless in any type of choke, nil grappling skills.

the man obviously has received some training in boxing which is quite effective in street fighting against OTHER LIMITED FIGHTERS, but put this guy in with a well rounded experienced hw (street fighter) and he's dead in 60 seconds.

he obviously has a good chin, but even current tyson will have no problem finding it again and again. he'll be stopped within 30 seconds here (sanctioned events allow less damage b4 stoppage).

Watching those early fights, there is just no one I can even think of who would have won...

Some fighters would have stayed in for awhile, but win?

Prime Rocky Marciano?

Prime George Foreman?

Prime Larry Holmes?

i'm thinking of the beating he put on frazier who resembles tyson's style, but tyson has better defence and more movement.

if tyson sits on the outside too long like frazier did he is going to get very discouraged very quickly when foreman drops those uppercuts on him.

tyson will have to work his way in laterally (to avoid devastating uppercuts coming in) or he is going to be a missile target like frazier.

foreman was very strong in his prime with good balance and footwork for a big man. he will try to push tyson off every time he comes in and drop hooks and uppercuts when he does. the tactic for tyson will be to neutralise foreman with a good body attack early on immediately every time he comes in. not just one shot either, he will need combinations with pin point accuracy (to the liver, kidneys, heart, etc).

either way it will be an absolute slugfest with a stoppage finish. would have been a great fight! pity.

foreman was very good at manhandling his opponents, cutting off the ring and basically puting them right where he wanted them to be where he would line them up and bomb them out.

there were plenty of fighters quicker than george that he destroyed in this fashion.
