tyson is was small but he did fight some huge guys in his prime. of course, he was very quick and got in quick on them where there advantages turned into disadvantages.

vitali klitschko has retired but he would have been chopped down early by prime tyson. the younger brother, wlad has issues when he starts getting hit. prime tyson would have a field day destroying this man.

Lesnar wouldn't last two minutes with Tyson.
Not on boxing rules! MMA's rules, than it would be another story!

You all are talking about a 40 year old beaten down by life boxer.  No one on this board could take him in boxing but I believe there are one or two of us that would beat him in his present condition in a street fight.

Now if you talk about Mike 20 years ago.......untouchable.

sorry, but you're talking out of your ass.

tyson would be extremely dangerous in a street fight and if you'd ever been in a serious one you would know that.

he's got everything going for him. consider:

1. he is extremely well balanced and quick at the same time.

2. he remains very calm. even when he gets hit he won't even blink and he's been hit by the best. your sunday punch he'd probably catch it on purpose and laugh at you. if he so much as flinches at you, you will be on the ground in the foetal position and you know it.

3. a quality street fight is over within 60 seconds. you win or he does - no rules don't forget (it's surprising how many people do forget that one), i guarantee tyson WON'T. tyson is lethal in 60 seconds. his explosive power and balance is top notch, even today.

4. he has had 1000s of top quality fights (don't forget sparring and ams) and is completely comfortable in this situation (fighting since he was born. quality since he was 13). he'd be more at home ripping your head off than shaking your hand.

5. he has a killer instinct second to none. i'm sorry, but this should be obvious by now.

6. i hate it when people make assumptions about 'people on this board'. that right there tells me you don't give YOURSELF much of a chance, and if YOU don't give yourself much of a chance then i can guarantee ALL you will do is shit and piss your pants simultaneously if you are ever faced with this prospect.

prime foreman.

i'm thinking of the beating he put on frazier who resembles tyson's style, but tyson has better defence and more movement.

if tyson sits on the outside too long like frazier did he is going to get very discouraged very quickly when foreman drops those uppercuts on him.

tyson will have to work his way in laterally (to avoid devastating uppercuts coming in) or he is going to be a missile target like frazier.

foreman was very strong in his prime with good balance and footwork for a big man. he will try to push tyson off every time he comes in and drop hooks and uppercuts when he does. the tactic for tyson will be to neutralise foreman with a good body attack early on immediately every time he comes in. not just one shot either, he will need combinations with pin point accuracy (to the liver, kidneys, heart, etc).

either way it will be an absolute slugfest with a stoppage finish. would have been a great fight! pity.

I think you have a point.

Tyson would have to work Foreman like he was chopping down a tree...

Bodyshots over and over until Foreman's defense wore down.

If he stuck to this strategy, he would probably get a late KO...

Either that or Tyson would get impatient and get KO'd early on.

The young Tyson was disciplined and had that killer instinct.

I tend to think Foreman would cave, not in the same way he did against Ali, but once he realized Tyson could take a punch and keep coming.......I think George's will would crumble.

Remember what people always said about Foreman.....bully's mentality.

That is why Ali won....

A prime Tyson would be Foreman's bully.

i agree and he did obviously try to bully ali thinking that he would just pound away at him until he just broke or caved.

can't really blame foreman for thinking that way because everyone else, including ali's camp, thought the same. everyone except ali of course.

foreman punched himself out on ali. he thought ali would break, didn't and was just as shocked as everyone else when he ended up on his ass. like most bullys that get owned like that he was shattered and didn't recover for decades. he did get stronger mentally though and came back and fought some very tough fights where he got tested and came through eg. ron lyle, evander holyfield (although he lost that one).

the difference between him and tyson is that foreman did adapt as a fighter and may have been a little tougher mentally than tyson, although not enough to shut tyson down like holyfield did. i don't think foreman had the tools or the chin for that.

tyson was fearless against those that simply tried to bomb him out ala ruddock and he had a great chin too (better than foremans).

i think george was too limited as a fighter to keep tyson out, but damn it would have been a hell raiser.
