I wish more shows had the clean backdrop.  Really looks good...

I've probably upset every promoter in the world over that and lighting :-)
Smaller shows are always the worst because they have to accomodate several sponsors who all want their names clearly visible on stage. I've been to some where there's been 20 banners acroos the backdrop.

Request here:  When people from Getbig go to these (and other) shows, can you PLEASE snap a pic or two of the crowd there?  This will end like 200+ posts of arguing the attendence success of shows...

agree... it is the physiques that should be the attraction not the stupid sets...

In an ideal world that would be the rule. Problem is that the sponsors demand their banners be seen. At the major shows the pre-judging is held in front of a plain background usually black.

No, I only pick up a camera if someone pays ;D

Im glad that the PDI is staying the course.

You didnt take one camera with you?    I thought you were a photojournalist.  How could you not take pictures of something that is happening for the first time, even for your personal collection?

My cameras are tools. Pay me, I bring them out. No money, they stay in store.

I seem to doubt you would have brought your cameras even if you were paid.

Why?

Kinda like Kamali when he gets ready for a show and places last and doesn't get paid for it? I think he should follow your philosophy, it would save him alot of time and money :D!

95% of my work is now shot on digital.
Digital now easily matches film and in at higher ISO is superior - much cleaner files.
Having said that, I wish digital had never reared it's ugly head. I spend more time in front of a computer than is healthy.

What do you mean by this?  Mentally unhealthy?  Bad for the eyesight?  Radiation poisoning?

Speak on this.  I have the same concerns.

We're probably safe fron radiation ;D
Eyesight has to be affected by constantly focusing on the same plane. Posture gets messed up - My shoulders/traps ache like hell after a few hours.

For me one of the major problems I have is the same as when I used to print my own black and whites. I'd print some, leave them overnight to dry. Look at them in the morning and figure I could improve them. So that process would repeat until I'd hit the deadline to get them done. I don't think I was being a perfectionist, I was just a lousy printer ;D
I now do the same with Photoshop.

I only know 2 photographers who still shoot all their work on film. One of them is Chris Lund - the best in this business.

Kevin - speak on this.

I don't have to worry about conflict of interest when shooting boodybuilding. I only shoot for FLEX.

Lee has already passed his IFBB Pro history in Prize $$$$money in only 2shows for PDI and he has another show and guest spots in a couple of weeks.Wow it seems like a bad choice financially at least NOT.Now when is the PDI Olympia????.Listen up IFBB promoters you cheap bitches give a lot more cash $1000 for 5th place is very very sad.

uhhh...not even close.

He won three IFBB shows, placed top 10 Olympia 5 times (top 6 3 times) and placed top 2-3 in MANY other shows. 6th place in the Olympia (back when he got that placing) ranged from $20-25K. That means from one of his 6th places ALONE, he equaled his WINNING prize from the PDI (and actually exceeded it if you include inflation). That's not saying anything about PDI -- it just started -- but your statement is wrong.

Because the IFBB wouldn't like that.

Congrats, Lee!

The top 4 looks good. I think it's great that lesser known BBers are getting exposure through the PDI.
