P Diddy...
« on: October 23, 2006, 03:40:41 AM »
Anyone listened to his latest album?

Check out the "testimonial" track if you can, he's just basically stroking his ego, I almost get the impression he believes he's a Jesus like figure :-X

There's also a track proclaiming he has the potential to be the first black president then a few lyrics after discusses his drug use and uses the word guy.[/font]

Pretty pathetic IMO.

Indeed, I don't know how people listen to this trash, I'd be embarrassed if I was him, especially with the fucking ridiculous statements he makes. :-X

his sampling into Erick Morillo's track Dance I Said (as long as its the 'Tonka Mix') sounds schweet.

Quite apt really.

I can't say I am a fan, but with a net worth of over $100,000,000 he must be doing something right.

You checked out his album? Thought you would have better taste than that..  :-\

He's an idiot, regardless of what he's worth. He is rich because idiots buy into his stupid bullshit and it's not different with others who make money off of hip hop.

he is more representative than anyone besides maybe '50 cent' of the Cancer that is thriving in our country today- the rap/hip-hop industry and the 'culture' that it inspires.
i hate this stuff beyond words.

no.
everyone who listens to rap, is not necessarily violent.

however id say honestly that probably 90+% of the people who commit petty crimes in this country- theft, mugging, stealing cars, vandalism, burglary, hell even most of the worse stuff like drive bys, random shootings, rape, hell throw every fucking crime you want in there- would say that rap is their 'music' of choice and that they would most associate with that sort of lifestyle and culture.

put it this way...if right now everyone who had bought (or stole LOL) more than, say, 5 hiphop albums in the last 6 months was rounded up and put into camps, I WOULD BET MY LIFE that overall crime in the city would drop at least 50-60%.

Surely rap does promote violent behaviour?

Some of the shit that comes out of their mouths, plus kids these days take it serious, it's a lifestyle choice for them. :-\

You obviously don't respect the man's hustle. The record companies do. Those in the business world do. He was just in Washington , DC for Howard University's Homecoming, his alma matar. He showed determentation going from DC to NY on the weekends to either DC or trying to get in to the record business. He went from Nothing to Something. A great Producer, businessman and fashion leader. THe man excells at whatever hustle in. That deserves respect.

So they do with Britney spears! Some record companies promote low talented artists by sticking stupid sentences into their mouths and dressing them with stupid fashion clothes! The majority of people haven't enough mind capacity to distinguish music as art and a form of expression, from stupid, commercial, cinical, gehto music (noise)!

Puffy is slef groomed, his style, fashion sense, is all his own. He grooms other artists. Totally dif from Brit Spears, I can't understand how you came with that :-\

And if you call rap "ghetto music/noise". And Hip-hop is a form of expression. give one reaosn its not.  Where do you think Rock and Roll originated? Same people. What do you listen to? Because it originated from the same people.

Hahaha, he's a product of his enviroment, he was constructed by the music industry FOR the music industry.

This 100 Mil you speak of... you do realise the white mans music industry made multiples of magitude higher than that figure from him right?

There's a board of executives someone laughing at the 100Mil he made, "haha that P diddy is an idiot, if only he knew how much we reaped from him!".

Just to put this into perspective, here's some info from Britney Spears:

Quote
She has grossed over $145 million USD from tour ticket sales and over $30 million USD in merchandise from her tours.

Let's not forget, she also went from nothing to something.

Not to diss the man, congrats to him etc, what has me pissed off is his lyrics and attitude. He thinks he is the second coming of Jesus.

I wouldn't be suprised if he declares himself a prophet and starts molesting 9 year old girls!!!

But put his achievements into perspective:

The 2 guys who created Youtube sold it only a few years later for 1.6Bn to Google, it took them 2 fucking years to become rich beyond their wildest dreams! NOW THAT IS IMPRESSIVE! :o

Again, I am no P-diddy fan, and now that I am an old foggy I agree with some of what you say about much of the culture being negative, and there are many who can not see what most of it is, which is parady. His business acument is impressive. His net worth is more like 250 million and his clothing line is expected to gross over a billion in the next 2 years. Yes, there are those who have acquired more wealth, but that is not to say his accomplishments aren't impressive. And you have to remember that the VAST majority of the wealth generated by "hip hop" culture comes from White middle class kids, NOT, from the so called violent underclass you so despise.
