Why would you look for stock advice on a bbing messageboard? There are thousands of stock boards. Relying on meatheads for financial advice is like asking a financial advisor for juice advice..

Have some respect for your iron brothers >:(

But yeah, you're right, this place is full of gays, muzzies and gym rats so maybe a dedicated stock forum is the way forward! :P

So, you're saying a start of $10K which I should be prepared to lose?

I've never traded in my life, I'm prepared to waste $1k to learn with but not 10...

The trading fees are off putting for someone who just wants to do it as an hobbie/learn.

Yeah yeah I know there are stock exchange simulators but it takes away the fun of losing and winning!

Thats from Yates and he does well...apparently his old man showed him the ropes and I believe its what he does for a healthy living. 10k would be 'worthwhile' I guess, for a somewhat reasonable return.

I'm just regurgitating what he's posted before

Forget stock trading, have you considered running a small corner shop?

If you're going to invest I would highly recommend starting with at least 5-10K. I've been investing in the stock market since I was thirteen so if you would like any initial help I would be more than happy to help you.

It's not that easy, bro. Most stocks don't even give dividends and you gotta hold on to common stock for a certain amount of time to really make a buck.

DNDN
Dendreon's prostate cancer drug has gotten favorable reviews from the FDA recenlty.  Check out their chart.  In the last month it has gone up 450%!  It was up 30% today alone!

PNPFF.PK
MGA.TO
A week ago, I had brunch with a wealthy friend of mine; he said he had recently made a few hundred grand in Uranium.  This is not my area and I don't have his kind of dough, but on his say so I threw a few grand at it with the two plays above.  Today PINETREE CAPITAL LTD was up 14.38%
MEGA URANIUM LTD was up 26.85%

FPL
I tend to go with safter plays like FPL; it's up 50% in the last 12 months.

Etrade has served me well: Easy-to-use trading platform,  Quick trade execution,  and pretty cheap transaction fees.

Starting with $1000 is the stock market equivalent of playing the nickle slots in Vegas. But, it's a good idea to start small because it takes a couple years to learn the game, the hardest part being the emotional ups and downs.

Here are a few books:

The Battle for Investment Survival - Gerald Loeb

How I made $2,000,000 in the Stock Market - Nicholas Darvas

How to Trade in Stocks - Jesse Livermore

Check out Sharebuilder as well.  The price for trading is pretty low and they let you buy stocks in odd lots so you are able to spread your money around a little more.
