interveiw for trainer job
« on: October 23, 2006, 03:41:35 PM »
I have an interview tomorrow for a personal trainer job. It's at a personal training studio, not a gym. Any trainers here have any advice, or pointers on what they'll be looking for?  Any advice at all is much apreciated 8)

Yes, go in as an independent contractor and NOT an employee!

Just look the part. Shave your forearms and your retarded goatee. Throw on a fanny pack and go tanning tonite...tweeze the eyebrows and pump up before the interview.

You could get frosted highlights in the tips of you hair and tell them you like to help women with their 'core' and tell them your philosophy is 'pain is weakness leaving the body'.

Also...to show them you walk the line...come in with your Muscltech shaker cup you got at the latest expo and in the middle of the interview look at your watch and go..."Oh, my bad hold up...time for a shake...gotta keep the influx of nutrients comming in...."

If you are REAL...you'll come in with a cooler of food and ask him if he has a microwave anywhere to heat up your plain chicken and brown rice.

Find the core stability ball, and point to it, saying "That is good."
All you'll need.

You should probably try to lose 50 pounds and start wearing those shorts that display your nuts. Skin type stuff is very hip now a days at the Y.
just push some weight!

Check with former clients of yours whether you can use them as a reference and take their phone numbers with you to the interview.

If (and only if) you have the impression that it is the right place and that things are going in the right direction, bring them into play.

LoomZoom...

If your certifications are straight you should be fine, those will matter more than anything else.  Be somewhat personable, and know your shit.  Depending on the clientelle you'll be training, it might actually matter whether you are friendly or not.

Just be you......as long as you aren't an asshole.

Tell them that besides training you're also very experienced at cleaning toilets, vacuuming, filling soap dispensers, mopping up sweat, answering phones and folding towels.

It's just a job, he didn't say it would be his ultimate career goal.

Besides, if you get the right clients you can make alot on the side.

Be professional and speak up, be confident...avoid shyness or being lethargic. know your stuff and don't try to impress them. \Dress professional...no sweats or snicker, and make him like u...be personable. good luck, i'm positive you'll do fine. Give us an update on how it went. :)
