sunni or shee LOL just kidding my friend..

Bonne journée mon ami!!.. yes french is one of the 7 languages i speak ;D

Shee, my friend but not that much into religion. Neither my parents o grandparents had the religious background. Pretty much interested in the classic persian culture. At home, Islam was considered as a "foreign" product, the outcome of the Arab invasion, a kind of colonialism. No offence but that's the way it was. It was much more about Omar Khayyam", "Shah Name" and the glorious past of the Achaemenids.

Three years ago when my father passed away. Spent about ten days there. Very, very different country than most people might expect here. i wouldn't want to live there though. Exhausting, most people just live on the edge, fuck with the rules and just hope not to get caught. But life goes on. Very strange experience.

by the way when i go any country a lot of ppl think i am iranian!!.. i met a lot of iranians before and they were very nice and decent..

I asked as I was at reading by Azar Nafisi, and she has very fond memories but when she left - she left, and hasn't returned. There were a lot of ex-pats in the audience and they all reminisced about their happy childhoods and the candy stores in Tehran they went as school children etc.,but were now very hesitant to return as the slightest thing might bar their exit.

no offence at all my friend.. i am a practicing muslim and i am proud of this but I don’t have any problem with any one.. I like and respect all ppl as long as they are friendly and nice.. I don’t care what is the religion of anyone, it’s a very personal matter!!..

I have visited Iran and the people are some of the warmest, most friendly and hospitable on the planet. Sadly, so many people they watch their biased news and are unable to think outside the box and see the real picture. The irony is that these American will most likely meet a cold, unfriendly person and be in danger in their own country in a big city there.

They have no true understanding of Arab hospitality and culture. Just silly scare stories from corrupt Western governments who want to make them fear the Middle East so they will  acquiesce in them committing outrages there.

Well, a lot of iranians did go back and not much happened. But you never know. Some just can't go back because of their involvement in the military during the Shah's period or because they had some kinf official functions. and the thing is that you can get stuck there and for no good reason; just because they want to fuck with you. One of my clients had the problem recently, lives in Canada, still had a business in Iran, used to go back and forth about six times a year for 20 about years then suddenly they decided to investigate on him and he got stuck there for about two years. They tried to confiscate almsot everything he had there. he got out of it but paid a shitload of money to get back his business and keep it alive.

Thanks. I think the most interesting story I heard was of the Air Iran(!?) pilot who flew out post-revolution and just handed in his keys to the plane on his arrival. Was then picked up by another airline and started his life anew. Heady times, indeed.

Well, people don't exactly remember how the revolution happened and how irrational it was. you have to know that most Iranians had no idea who Khomeini was even six months before he became the "Guide". The whole thing was borderline absurd and so was the Shah's behavior. Somehow, he had it coming. But the country was still in better shape back then than today.

That seemed to be the consensus. Lots of the people really connected on that part as they found out what they had in common, etc. Some of those even found out they knew each other. For us in the West, all we knew was the Shah, Evin prison and the bad dudes in SAVAK. Oh, and when we all saw the crowds pull Khomeini out of his coffin, we just shook our heads. Me? I'd love to get to Persepolis one day. Get a little perspective.

it's an outrage Sherief  >:(

if not for you, bobs, sharma, and a few others i would have packed up and left here long ago.

i don't understand why ron allows some of the posters on here - especially the recent influx of racist bigots who have never made a thread even remotly bodybuilding related.   >:(

with intelligent sincere bodybuilding fans like yourself as a mod, perhaps getbig would once again return to its former glory.

and from where a 19 posts kid like you who has joined GB only last month have known DL whose ass was kicked out months ago??.. you are not only a gimmick but also stupid  :P

 ::)
This is the type of behavior I can expect from you nasser guys. Sheer arrogance.

Been reading this board for over an year now on and off  after one of my friends introduced me to the ongoing drama that is getbig.  I created a account awhile ago but forgot the password since I hardly used it but feel free to think I'm a gimmick if that makes you happy. After all your "Team" has plenty ;).

Same thing here, I'm muslim (but not arab) and I never thought for one second Dreadlord (or Tyr for that matter) as being racists or anti-muslim. It's the whole endless Nasser pic posting and nuthuggin' who made them react that way. The victim/race card backfired on Nasser's fans and that was only logical.
What's up RZA? Good to see someone else who sees these retards for the joke they are. Plenty of good guys here like haider, ksa and several others who don't embarrass themselves by engaging in this nonsense.

I was referring to the fact that nassers losses have nothing to do with his race.

Tyr is dreadlord , it has been confirm to people by a high authority here. Don't forget  that he spend many months denying he was barracuda while using his cowardly dreadlord persona until he was owned, humiliated and destroyed.
His obsession and devotion to Nasser and his fans is still all too clear.

Now, on to the positives : wonderful pictures of a wonderful guy having a wonderful retirement. This thread just keep go from strength to strength and most of the real getbig legend like Mcfarland and kiwiol, they love it.

Thank you to Bobs and FP, SS , NW83 , JT, QO, Jeff Mcfarland, Swami and MANY, MANY others I forget to mention -  a thousand apologises for this omission - for making this the best of all the threads we ever bloody seen !!

X2 !!

Huge Nasser and Team Nasser dominating Getbig  :)

i agree that his race was not the only reason.. it may play a role more after sep. 11, 2001 but before this Nasser and also others (including American bodybuilders) suffered from the ifbb policy which was/is to create one dominant champ to keep winning year after year even if he was/is not the best..
according to you how dorian won mr. o 1997 and how Ronnie won in 2000 or 2001??.. jay cutler also was prepared to be the next dominant champ but his disappointed them.. they gave him a gift in 2007 but he came off again in 2008 and they couldn’t help!!..

His race is not a factor.

First of all nasser is hardly the person you would picture as a radical muslim. His mother and wife were white. He hung out, partied, drank, and posed in daisy dukes for the schmoes just like all of the other weider bb's. He was sponsored by the Weiders and was regarded as one of the boys not the lone muslim of the group. He was always billed as being from Yugoslavia not Egypt and he said in his interview that he was grateful to Joe Weider for supporting him over the years even after 9/11. The fact that the bb judges who had known nasser for years suddenly decided to penalize him after 9/11 is ridiculous. Nasser was already dropping in his placements way before 9/11 happened.

Your theory on creating a dominant champ makes more sense. I think it could have gone either way in 1997 and i agree Yates may have won it due to him being the incumbent but I'm not an IFBB judge and at the end of the day their decisions count not ours - fair or unfair. Thats just the way it goes everywhere not just bodybuilding.
