New IFBB President Raphael Santonja

At the IFBB congress at the World Championship for men in Ostrava, Ben weider resigned as IFBB President and the new elected president is Raphael Santonja from Spain. Raphael already is the IFBB president for Europe (EBFF) and now for the whole IFBB.

Congrats to Raphael.

There were delegates from about 50 nations. It might be a surprise to some people on this board, but 96% of the world's population lives outside the USA.

On the show Ben said he would be President until death. I knew that had to be an overstatement as most people his age don't even know who the hell they are let alone what they are saying.  ;D

Hope they the IFBB settle out of court and you make a heap.With all the shit you have had to put up with for so many years.Not to mention this years oh we don't pick names or previous champions at the OZ show.

From what I've heard, the Euro and USA versions of the IFBB have been run very very differently.

This should definitely be interesting now.  Will Euro guys get a better look here in the USA?

There were delegates from all continents and about 50 nations, including the US. Although the IFBB website appears more like a tribute to Ben and Joe Weider... the IFBB is still an international sports federation with some rules.

Rafael has been Weider's lapdog for years now. I don't think it's come as much of a surprise to see him take it over.
I remember reading Flex mags back in the early-mid 90's and there was a section called "On the run with Rafael" where there were various photos of him meeting various "dignataries and handing out cheap IFBB awards to Olympic commitee members basically kissing their butts to try and get bodybuilding considered for the Olympics. What a joke.
