Definitely unique, reminds me of Picaso somewhat. What is the meaning in this one?
I use images of statues to represent the idea of the body as a monument to itself and our culture, and images of real, fleshy bodies to represent emotional life. The winged figures represent that part of our thought that refuses to be material and finite.
The peice can mean whatever you want it to mean to you. But it was generally the idea of hope and depression and the aid of friends or God to help you in times of need. However, as in life we are often unsure if friends have our best intentions at heart.
The peice is not finished, i have bout 2 layers to go (using the 7 layer rule of classical oil painters, which i read online somewhere), i want it to be much darker and smoother. The sparkling is due to wet paint being captured and the image has been compressed so looks hardly anything like it does in real life.
Anyway, these were just practice peices to see if i had potential with oil paints. I only realised in my 2nd peice the differences which can be made with correct equipment, linseed oil, turpentine, thinners. I hope to learn a lot more on my next couple of peices.
