I don't know whether I am the first person to say this but that article was a page of hopelessly romantic nonsense that disappointed me. It shed the "iron warrior poet" light on what is and will always be a trashy soap opera style atmosphere here. God, truly, if I wanted getbig to be represented in print it would not be that way. Perhaps the only positive thing is that we may have some idealistic "fresh meat" with whom this type of writing may resonate with in the coming weeks.

To me, Getbig has been misrepresented and it is up to a willing participant to more accurately advertise our fine "community" in all its (scummy) glory. Perhaps I shall compose a discourse defending the concept of getbig and our concept of general free speech for John to consider.

Whateva won fair and sqaire. Even a murderer would still hold the crown if they played by the rules. I see no reason for a DQ for what they do outside of the contest, unless specified in the rules. Why can't people let all the "unofficial rules" crap go and accept the REAL rules?

Some ethics you have there. What about the basic ethics of sportsmanship that everyone learns in the 1st grade. Dont cheat. Be honest. Play fair.

If you guys can't agree on a DQ how about this, Whateva keeps his title but gets an asterix next to it. .....Mr GetBig 2006*......... *= Hid his Pro status from judges with a girl's wig.

Its hard to tell whether he was hiding his pro status or his identity. Hiding his identity from getbig is far from unethical and quite expected.

He was hiding his pro status. His picture was already published on other sites on the internet. If he wanted to hide his identity from getbig he would have done what Bast did and not shown his face at all. He wore the wig to make a further mockery of the contest. Get your facts straight.

You weren't allowed to hide the face like Bast did.

The rules allowed for a wig and sunglasses, or similar.

Bast, for whatever reason (well, he's not the brightest bulb in the lighthouse), could not get a wig and a pair of sunglasses.

He was allowed to compete anyways.

whateva sticked to the rules.

Both TA and Bast broke the rules, but were allowed to compete anyways.

Why aren't you questioning their eligibility?

First thing, this WAS NOT an AMATUER contest. This contest could be considered a professional event. We gave away prizes and cash all having monetary value. Once an athletes competes and recieves compensation he is considered a professional. Even if this show wasn't sanctioned. WHat he did reminded me of what this little guy did in the WSM. He was carrying that stone thing and his arms were so short he couldn't get them around the stone. SO he used a belt or something and it made it easier for him to carry the stone. Everyone complanied but there was nothing in the rules saying he couldn't use something. Also reminds me of an event I entered. The rules state in armwrestling your belt can't be above the table top. Allot of guys like to stand on blocks or have really tall shoes or stand on their toes to get taller (an advantage). So they made that rule. Well a guy I armwrestled wanted as much advantage as he could get. So he stepped up on a box whihc made him about 6" taller. His belt was well above the table. The ref said hey you can't do that. SO the guy pulled his pants down. Now his belt was below the table. Everyone laughed and couldn't belieive but he pointed out the rules and it stuck. Too bad I kicked his ass anyways. But, he played by the rules just found a loophole. Exactly what Whateva did. He found a loophole. Deep down he knew what he was doing but no one asked him before so why not.
