You don't take your government wasting millions of dollars on an abstinence campaign aimed at 19 to 29 year olds seriously. :-\

I guess they could continue to promote "safe sex" through birth control pills and condoms.  That has worked brilliantly the past 30 years or so.

people have sex out of marriage, you can't stop it you fucking retard... You're wasting your our money, we're applying the best common sense solutions even if the solutions are not 100% perfect... Go on with yourself now and put a lit on your radical fundamentalism before it ends up wasting more money or getting more people killed.  >:(

Hmmmm wondering if there is a statement to be found in how well abstinence worked for priests.  It's a form of deprivation that leads to unhealthy outcomes as is so with nearly every kind of deprivation on the human animal...  You can't goddamned suppress the strongest primal trait in humans which is to f**k...  Only a delusional radical fundamentalist would think this is a good idea... >:(

::)  Listen genius, this is part of the reason why I don't take you seriously.  You are nothing more than a cartoon.  Here is some free advice:  in the unlikely event you are able to find a woman, do the world a favor and practice abstinence; i.e., do not reproduce.  You'll not preserve the moral fabric of society, you'll save the government some money.

Great rebuttal ::)  Again... I'll take that a bow out... You don't want to deal with any of the very valid points made in the post and instead resort to this shit...  You can get pissy with me that's fine, but it says volumes when your post has no counter points.

For not taking me serious, you sure spend a lot of time replying to my posts... I pretty much ignore people who aren't worth taking serious... How fucking stupid does that make you   ;)

Condoms are preventing STD's.

Problem is, the use of condoms are not allowed to be demonstrated or teached to teens, and they grow up without condom usage as a natural part of their sex life.

The usage of condoms in Sweden is higher than in Poland, Ireland or other countries with rigid anti-condom policies.

Sweden also has a lower rate of STD's and unplanned births.

Despite the fact that Swedish teens starts having sex at the same age or even slightly earlier on average, than these other countries.

Something must be wrong with the anti-condom policy.

I agree that preaching abstinence is one way to deal with the problem, and the only way to deal with the problem. 300 years ago.

But we live in the 21st century.

Lets deal with this as rational human beings.

Fact: People, even those under the age of 30, will have sex.

How to prevent those people from getting STD's and unplanned births?

Why not teach them from young age to use condoms?

Because you are sending a mixed message.  We have tried the condom campaigns in this country for years.  It has been a failure.  I think it is an unreasonable approach.  Not only does it send mixed messages about sex, but it is unworkable.  Sex with and without a condom is literally like night and day.  I doubt there are many guys who have experienced sex with and without a condom who will consistently use condoms, particularly younger guys whose brain cells are clouded by testosterone.

Have there been studies in Sweden that directly link condom use to fewer unplanned births?  I've seen studies that show condoms have a very high failure rate.

Be honest with me mate, have the government in the USA really tried condom campaigns on a large scale?

Have these campaigns been allowed into high schools, into all high schools, even private high schools? What efforts were made to give condoms a chance?

Here's an anti-AIDS site with info about condoms:

http://www.avert.org/condoms.htm

And before anyone goes and claim it is "liberal" or "conservative" or "whatever" bias, the article has solid references.

Once again, I don't think condoms should be promoted because I want kids to have orgies, or have more sex.

It's because I remember how it was being a teen, that there is no way a teen is going to stay away from the cookie jar.

Instead, inform.

On a side note: I don't understand what Berserker thinks he's going to achieve with constantly insulting BB. And vice versa.

Different groups have spent millions for years promoting condom use in this country.  It hasn't worked.  I think one of the main reasons it will never work is what I mentioned earlier about guys simply refusing to use them.

I looked at the link you posted.  Here is what I found interesting about the U.S.:  the rates of Chlamydia have almost doubled, gonorrhea has remained level, and syphilis has only slightly decreased.  If those numbers are accurate, our millions spent promoting condoms have had no impact on STDs.

And just look at our out-of-wedlock pregnancy and abortion rates.  Whatever we've been doing to slow these rates down has not worked.

It's a difficult issue IMO.  I know a certain segment of the population will have irresponsible sex regardless of what kind of campaign we run.  Given that, I see no problem with promoting the only foolproof method of avoiding STDs and unwanted out-of-wedlock births:  find a mate and get married.  Until then, keep it in your pants.

Anyone who buys into this argument:

the revision is aimed at 19- to 29-year-olds because more unmarried women in that age group are having children

or sees this stat as valid or sound reasoning behind the campaign is simply manipulated by data they do not know how to interpret.

Of course more unmarried women in that age group are having children. Infact, more married women in that age group are having children as well. Most women have children between the ages of 19-29, ...married or not. Those are the most frequent child bearing years

What would you prefer, ...that they instead have abortions?.

You talk about the unwanted pregnancy rates in the country, however, you say that as if unwanted pregnancies only occur in unmarried women. I'm of the opinion that there are infact even more unwanted pregnancies that occur among married women. Infact, abortion stats will bear this out. Most women having abortions, are in fact married.

You teach your kids abstinence. We're approaching the year 2007. Good luck.
I both fear & suspect, that you are in for a very horribly traumatic and rude awakening.

My questions for you are these:

Do you really think that the government in the USA has allowed for a nationwide campaign directed at ALL teens and young adults?

If so, when was that campaign?
