No more 60+ home runs
« on: November 06, 2006, 12:31:22 PM »
Strange that when their is a steroid prob in MLB the days of 60+ homers seem to be over.  Duh, I wonder if the drugs had anything to do with it ???

Ortiz hit 54. If Manny was not a shithead and stayed in the lineup instead of making up lies about about injuries he might have had 60 plus.

Ya think?   ;D  Too bad they cannot wipe some of those records off the books.  I'm actually hoping for a Bonds indictment on tax evasion before next season.

I think he could have had 64 if Manny stayed around to protect him. Once Manny got "injured" they gave him nothing to hit. I wonder what pitchers where on the sauce :-X

Why do people equate steriods with ability, if that were the case I wouldn't have been stuck in AA for two years :-\!!

i think he means, gone are the days when random people like brady anderson and greg vaughn have 50+ homer seasons out of nowhere.
Valhalla awaits.

Long fly balls that were caught at the track are now going a few rows deep. Its easy to analyze. A great increase in strength plus the endurance you gain from the juice for a 162 game season is huge. Maybe of even more importance to a baseball player than a football player or track athlete.

Hey, Brady Anderson hit like 14 one year. ;) What about Gonzales in Arizona in 2001 magically hitting 57?

The players that are power hitters have always been power hitters, the difference is the ball flies 40ft over the fence instead of 10ft....either way, it goes over!

Yeah, but the guys with warning track power were elevated to 10th row power.

Now if they don't get all of it it still will go out. C'mon dude if you are a lot stronger you will hit more knocks out. Its simple math not rocket science.

And the guys that were not warning track hitters didn't magically become homerun hitters, don't forget that at least 60-70% (or more) of players are on at least something!!

Actually some did.  Brady Anderson is barely a warning track power player and look what he did.  Same with Gonzalez.  If it didn't work, they wouldn't be/have been using it.  Simple.

Rumor has it Garciaparra was a juicer. We know Dykstra, Bonds, McGuire, Giambi, Juan Gone, Canseco, Sosa, Luis Gonzales were. Pudge was rumored, Caminitti, Brett Boone were. Bagwell had whispers about his usage. I am tired. Probably a lot of names I have missed. Here are the guys who didn't use, Griffey, great lefthanded powerstroke, Cecil Fielder, immense strength, Ryan Howard and guys like Jim Thome are in the same class as Fielder.

steroids gives you extra power but it also gives you extra "rage" and focus when your at the plate. performance drugs also make a 162 game season seem a lot shorter. as far as records being erased, no way. fields are shorter, the mounds lower, better equipment, different balls and bats, better training methods. theres too many variables that make the game change. even if bonds breaks Ruth's record, ruth will always be remembered as a better hitter. did McGuire take roids or was it just the andro? we wil never know who did or didnt.

I think its pretty apparent who did juice.
