voting experience
« on: November 07, 2006, 02:05:58 PM »

The polling place i went to, there were republican and democratic watchdogs eyeing each other like hawks.

I asked the first person that looked like an administrator a question about if i was in the right place to vote as I had recently moved a short distance, and this other lady came running, literally running, over to see what was going on.  I guess i was talking to one of the democrat or repub volunteers (i dont know which) and the one on the opposite side didn't trust them one bit.  It was amusing.  I don't think a young white male, in the suburbs, dressed business casual is the stereotypical victim of voter intimidation, but nowadays you never know.

Anyway, I bet there are people from both sides at virtualy every polling station to try and stop the other side from cheating.  Neither side trusts each other, for good reason obviously.

THe line wasn't too bad, things went pretty smoothly.  But I am sick of seeing stickers/signs all over the damn place so tommorow they better be gone.

How was your voting today? Anything weird, funny, etc?
Valhalla awaits.

Went well where I voted.  Only 1 person outside asking people what their experience was like... The Dem vs. Rep hawks have never been seen facing off when I voted.  It usuall goes pretty smooth but I'm in pretty nice area north of denver.  I wouldn't want to be in Denver trying to vote today.

I spent four hours answering questions for poll watchers and they reported numerous problems.  Precinct chairs showing up late.  A plethora of problems with voting machines not working.  Inaccurate voter lists.  But overall, people here are voting despite the problems.

We voted at lunchtime today.

Voting took longer than it ever has today.  I'm not sure some of these "election judges" should be performing those duties.  I've been asked to be one and have rejected it but I'm wondering if they need young people in there to make sure crap goes right.  Or at least goes my way ;D

of course I'm kidding :P
