....over Cory Everson?

There hasn't been a female bodybuilder past or present who could touch Cory.

Even when she dieted down, she kept her beauty and feminine quality.

Most female bodybuilders look like starved greyhounds when they finally step on stage.

DIV

Yes, the consensus is that the likes of Rachel, Cory, Gladys, Marja, and Anja were the best FBBers with the fleeting Ms. Olympia's "sexy/feminine look" of the 80's before, sadly, the encroaching "virilized look" of the 90's took over.

Of course, the reason pro. IFBB FBB competition went "into the virilized shiiter" is because the contest judges, promoters, and the wonderful "laugh all the way to the bank" Weiders strongly pushed awarding the Ms. Olympia's top prizes to the FBBers who would come in progressively "bigger and tighter" every year!  It's a no-brainer to realize that the ONLY way a woman's body can do this is with aid of AAS/GH.

As the result, the FBB contest judges/promoters/Weiders helped kill FBB as an appealing-to-the-general-public competitive event as the "she-he" first-place look evolved and developed (e.g. Ellen Van Maris to Kim Chevisky and, finally, Iris Kyle).

Place the blame of the demise of pro. female BB on the shoulders of those it FIRMLY belongs...the IFBB judges and promoters and the Weiders!! With the advent of fitness and figure competition, FBB was "boxed-in" and had nowhere to go!

Speaking of Sharon's legs, you may recall that in her prime she could back squat with over 400 lbs. and that she entered several of Kenny Kassel's annual Kay Baxter Strength Extravaganza contests (usually held in East Rutherford, NJ), along with other strong/sexy FBBers of the late-80's and early-90's like Raye Hollitt, Tazzie Columb, etc.

As you may know, Kenny's annual strength extravaganza contests were/are grueling tests of strength AND stamina!  During the years Sharon competed, she would often do about 25 pull-ups, 50+ dips, bench her bodyweight about 25 reps., and angle leg press three-to-four times her bwt. for some 125 reps.!!

Talk about a sexy combo. of feminine beauty AND strength, Sharon was it!!

What you posted makes a lot of sense and sums it up pretty well. There are other things that need to be said such as how some fans of female bodybuilding pay to see extraordinary mass and then they wonder why magazines don't want to put these women on their covers and make them into spokesman for bodybuilding shaping and compare them to stars and celebrities such as the one and only Rachel McLish as well as Cory Everson as well who ever else is in that category.

I think the results of the 1997 Ms.Olympia led to the situation in what feels like just a few years ago 1999 when that issue almost went unresolved.

Do you honestly think that fans of hardcore women's bodybuilding give a crap about that?

Honestly, they somehow seem to care much more about what they want to see for some reasons in a session besides what is shown on stage, in a magazine, or at a workout factory :-\

Those are very appealing Marjo Selin photos :)

She really made the Ms.Olympia unique at that period of it's existence. I'm lucky enough to be one who has known of the 1st Olympia muscl lady since the time Cory Everson first won it. Rachel McLish was a pioneer for many of the rest who came after and are on her level. (Don't know why it took until two o 6sicks for Ironman magazine to do a tribute article about Rachel McLish)

I still liked the Olympia womin after Ms.Olympia Everson won her last but it lost some of it's flex appeal when Laura Creavalle couldn't win at least once and Lenda Murray retired after the 1997 Olympia when it should have went back and forth with KimChizevsky from 1996 to 1998or99.

It looks dicey to me why the wizard weider has not decided to hold a special anniversary attendance of all the MsO champions similar to when that was pulled off to reunite all the Mr.Olympia past title holders. That would have been rare and unique to do that with Rachel MCLish, Cory Everson, and the handful of others during the 1st year 200 time that would have made the IFBB look back at the Ms.Olympia 20 years after it was first held.

Marjo is great.  She has the funniest husband (Hannu).  They have a nice little gym on Maui.  They help support my show and are very very nice people.  Met them through my friend Tony Halme. We all went out to dinner at Midevel Times.

Marjo Selin should have held the Ms.Olympia crown for at least 1 year during her career because that would be meaningful so years later in retrospect.

In retrospect, it would be very honest to say that the real reason why womin with big muscles who are tall and strong looking are disliked by all of us minus a few is because they are viewed as being threatening in a number of ways :-[

One of my all-time favorite pro. IFBB competitive FBBers: TAZZIE COLUMB!!

I saw her compete in one of Kenny Kassel's Kay Baxter Women's Strength Extavaganza's in NJ, back in the early 90's, when Tazzie was in her off-season, full-figure, condition and STRONG as hell!!

What a gorgeous woman Tazzie was in her prime (early 90's) with her long, beautiful, black hair and her "Cajun" complexion!  Her leg/thigh and glute development were something else!!
