Thats fucked up...
How was it possible that they found you then? I know IP address tracking can only give you a rough location...
lol it's not from "hacking", it's from social engineering. In fact, most exploits around the world aren't done through the computer, it's done through people.
You can call a bank and give them something like your address, a few recent purchases from the last invoice and they'll do just about anything for you. You can really fuck someone's life over and steal their identity with nothing more than a bit of "trash".
Knew a few kids from high school that got addicted to meth and used to sift through trash at hotels and small businesses so they could socially engineer customer service reps and fuck people over. They scammed millions worth of cash, skimmed cards and stole identities for years. If it weren't for their addictions they could have done things a bit better and kept from getting caught but they got sloppy.
I also heard of thinks like people calling into Customer Service looking for an ex that was relocated for safety reasons. Made a few calls and gave a couple pieces of identifying information like previous addresses and payments made to a cable account and they released the account holder's current address (not supposed to release private details, only confirm them). Dude tracked her down, sexually assaulted her and killed her. I think that's why Canada's privacy laws changed a few years ago.
It doesn't take a technological genius to steal an identity and fuck someone over, just good social skills and a desire.
