Pellius is like a born again Christian opening his eyes and exposing the sins of the "god" he once followed.
No there was no revelation. It was a steady regression. As the board change and as gh15 changed discontent among myself and others was steadily growing. When Valiant shut down the board that was the final push that made many, including myself, really stop and examine what we were doing. What we were getting involved with. Ironically, because he seemed to get the most shit for leaving, it was Tim Wescott, Wes, that was the most courageous and the most independent thinker. He didn't need anyone or any circumstance to push him out like the rest of us did. Whether by being banned like JNN or Ken or Dustin or Flintstone... or have the board go down and make people like me (and others whom I won't name) to reexamine and reevaluate just what the hell we were doing and sanctioning. No, Wes just thought for himself, examine things on his own, came to his own opinions and realizations, and then quietly, and with pure class, made a clean exit. Didn't bad mouth anybody. Didn't bitch or complain. Just looked at his watch, smiled, and made a clean exit. Much like you would do at a party that's been going on too long. It's getting late and it's time to go.
Man did I have to hold my peace when I think of all the shit people gave Wes calling him a kiss ass and a sheep when in reality he was the one that was most courageous, the most dignified, the most classy, and the most independent of all of us. The rest of us needed to be pushed. To be shaken and brought to our senses. To start thinking back at all the times when we knew that things just wasn't right but then dismissed it and carried on. Even as things kept building and building we just kept putting it off. Correct me if I wrong OMR but I have a feeling that you, in fact I'll even included bigmc and chaos, hell I'll even throw in Flintstone; that you all knew that my days there were numbered. Whether I knew it or not. Whether I would admit it or not. It seemed inevitable that I would be permanently banned or leave. Hell, now that I think about it, Wes knew. Wes knew all along. Wes knew before I even did. The other day I was reading through some old post and was on a thread where Wes was making his return and someone asked Wes, "Where's Pellius?" Wes just answered in a matter of fact way, "He'll be here soon." He said it with a certainty that was almost eery. Like it was already a done deal and it was just a matter of going through the motions. How did you know, Wes? How could you have been so sure?
Wes and ergo. Those two are the only ones I know of that made a clean exit on their own.
