Comp prep and Lasix?
« on: November 20, 2006, 11:56:35 AM »
1st off wondering what your guy's opinions are on lasix?

2ndly, I was thinking for my next show, what if I used more long ester mass building gear that retain a lot of water and then just take lasix at the appropriate time before the competition.  Wouldn't I then be able to get the most mass gains and then  be able to remove all the water.  Is this a good idea or no?

you will have to diet for weeks to prep for a show....its not going to be water weght alone you will need to lose. what did you do for your last contest prep?
what diruetics did you use to prep last time?

im my opinion...diruetics should only be used a day or two before a show...nothing more. any other prep should be controlled by diet and cardio....

Of course I will be dieting 3 months or so in advance, with a very strict regimen.

I think you have the wrong idea, I'm just concerned about water retention, no worries on losing fat or dieting, that is all under control.

Last show however I didn't use any gear, so water retention wasn't really a problem.  I simply took some dandelion root and some otc water removal pills.  I wouldn't have mind being a bit dryer though but I was cramping pretty bad even with all the potassium, electrolyte and mineral supplementation.

This show however I want to run gear up until the day of, and if I use long ester gear, then there will be considerable amount of water retention I imagine unless I use something like lasix?  Wondering if Lasix or some other diuretic that someone could recommend will remove all the water retained by the gear?  Also, if you have any experience doing this what was your best results and how did you attain them?

First off, read the thread that "O" started the other day, he makes some good points from his own observations about running things that are typically not run during a comp cycle and done so with success. However, I still like the idea of not running some of these types of items as the show gets closer....just makes things easier IMO. Why not design your cycle to where you're running some of the stuff you have in mind for the bulk of the cycle and switching it up to more standard stuff at the back end?

As far as diuretics, as long as you manage your water and NA prior, you should be in good shape, a simple regimen of Diazide Fri. and Sat. should have you ready to go.

I don't recommend diuretics.

Too high a risk for permanent kidney damage if done incorrectly.

There are natural ways to drop water.
