Jorge Betencourt, What you did waa foolish
« on: November 20, 2006, 11:06:24 PM »
Jorge Betencourt ,
The post that you put on Get big bashing Steve Blecheman and calling him kid was very foolish buissness decision on your part.I read your post ,and it seems your mad at Steve because he payed no attention to you when you were at a booth, and he didnt want to have a photo shoot with you after nationals.Jorge I own 2 sports nutrition companies, I am a national level athlete who competes at 258lbs, and I am a certified judge in 4 organizations so I have judged a couple hundred shows. My point is I know the industry inside and out, from a buissness perspective, and from an athletes persepctive. You accused Steve Blechman of ignoring you when you were at your booth , which might upset most people.Did you ever think that Steve might have been very busy and had alot on his mind and just didnt see you.I know there are times when I have alot of people talking to me and wanting my immediate attention and people have walked me by me or tapped me on the shoulder and I didnt even notice them.Does that make me a jerk or an asshole? No I just had my mind some where else.I deal with  over 400 accounts nation wide, plus I endorse 12 athletes, and I custom formulate for 6 well known pro athletes so I have alot going on.Now Steve has the hottest selling magazine in the world, and he deals with alot of pro athletes, and deals with probably several hundred vendors aswel as companies. So with this being said, you accused him ignoring you, when he simply was just busy, and didnt happen to see you.I could have been an honest mistake. Now about the photo shoot.Jorge you have a symetrical physique, and your a lean guy, but to be honest with you , your physique is decent nothing that jumps of off magazine pages. As a matter of fact I endorse 2 national level athletes who just recnetly beat you, and I wouldnt even think they belong in MD.Jorge you didnt place in nationals, and just because you advertise in MD doesnt mean you belong in MD.Jorge MD is a hardcore magazine, and to be honest with you when I look at your physique there is nothing hardcore about it.You body is great for maybe Mens Excersise, small colums in M&F and small articles in Ironman, but never MD.I get up to 290lbs off season and compete at 258lbs, and I still think I am not freaky enough for MD.Jorge you body is symertical ,and you get lean, but your not much bigger then most guys who model in Mens Fintess magazine. Now if you moved up to the lightheavyweight class and came in around 195 lbs shredded on stage you might stand a better chance of getting into MD.There is nothing impressive about a man who has been training for 22 years, and gets on stage at 175lbs, even if your only 5'4" .I may endorse shorter middleweight atlhetes, but I dont use them on the front of my brochure, or use them in adds. Why ? because nobody that buys supplements wants to be 175lbs shredded, they want to be 250lbs, or atleast 220lbs shredded .Your build is great marketing to the average guy who wants to look lean and athletic, but MD is a hardcore magazine.Jorge your physique and your look is far from hardcore.Jorge I have met you on occassion and your a nice guy and I wish the best for you and your buissness.I just think what you posted on Getbig was very stupid and uncalled for.You called Steve Blechman stupid, and Kid, which in my opinion shows a sign of insecurity, and stupidiity. From what I see Steve owned Twinlab, and owns MD, and you were a trainer, and just started a small nutrition company.I know you wanted to stand your ground and show you wont take crap from Steve or MD.The problem here is your a newer company, thats not very large in size, and you attacked somebody who has the best magazine, and is a big time player in this industry. That my friend was not a smart move. What you did is make yourself look like a loud mouth and if I didnt know you I woudnt take you or your product line seriously.I would think who is this joker atacking Steve Blechman on get big board, why isnt he keeping this buissnes between them. Also if I liked MD and I do I would be mad at you and I wouldnt buy any of your products. The bttom line is Jorge, what you did was not only wrong, but very stupid. What you need to do is put your ego down and post an apology to Steve and hope this all blows over.Jorge this industry we are in is a $30 billion a year industry, but yet its a small tight nitched community aswell. This means word gets around fast if a company is dishonest, the owner did something unethical in his past, or there products suck. All you have to do is look at the Ryan Titus incident, within 2 days everybody who ever lifted a weight knew what happened.Jorge the choice is yours, but if you were smart, you would do the righyt thing make your apology public, and move on.Or hope and pray that that stupid post doesnt come back to haunt you, which inturn could hurt your buissnes in the long run.Like it or not MD is the best bodybuilding magazine ever created, and is the new force in bodybuilding, so they are  not going anywhere soon.Jorge do the right thing

bump to mey man jorge-he did what he thought was right and I dont blame him. put yourself in his shoes-he spends thousands on advertising and not only did they dick him out of some small coverage - steve blew him off totally without even saying hows it going man. i think if I were steve id be nice to people spending thousands advertising but thats just me. putting him in MD is one thing but he should have said hi and been friendly- pretending someone is not there is just unprofessional. MD put arnesto osario in MD cabout 2 yrs ago and hes by far a freak-IMO.

I re-typed my thread okay ,just to make you guys happy

The post that you put on Get big bashing Steve Blecheman and calling him kid was very foolish business decision on your part. I read your post and it seems you’re mad at Steve because he paid no attention to you when you were at a booth, and he didn’t want to have a photo shoot with you after nationals. My point is I know the industry inside and out, from a business perspective, and from an athletes perspective. You accused Steve Blechman of ignoring you when you were at your booth, which might upset most people. Did you ever think that Steve might have been very busy and had much on his mind and just didn’t see you?

I know there are times when I have many people talking to me and wanting my immediate attention and people have walked me by me or tapped me on the shoulder and I didn’t even notice them. Does that make me a jerk or an asshole? No I just had my mind some where else. I deal with over 400 accounts nation wide, plus I endorse 12 athletes, and I custom formulate for 6 well known pro athletes so I have much going on. Now Steve has the hottest selling magazine in the world, and he deals with many of pro athletes, and deals with probably several hundred vendors as well as companies. So with this being said, you accused him ignoring you, when he simply was just busy, and didn’t happen to see you. I could have been an honest mistake. Now about the photo shoot. Jorge you have a symmetrical physique, and your a lean guy, but to be honest with you, your physique is decent nothing that jumps of off magazine pages.  As a matter of fact I endorse 2 national level athletes who just recently beat you, and I wouldn’t even think they belong in MD.  Jorge you didn’t place in nationals, and just because you advertise in MD doesn’t mean you belong in MD. Jorge MD is a hardcore magazine, and to be honest with you when I look at your physique there is nothing hardcore about it. You body is great for maybe Men’s Exercise, small columns in M&F and small articles in Ironman, but never MD.

I get up to 290lbs off season and compete at 258lbs, and I still think I am not freaky enough for MD.Jorge you body is symmetrical ,and you get lean, but your not much bigger then most guys who model in Mens Fitness magazine. Now if you moved up to the light heavyweight class and came in around 195 lbs shredded on stage you might stand a better chance of getting into MD. There is nothing impressive about a man who has been training for 22 years, and gets on stage at 175lbs, even if your only 5'4" .I may endorse shorter middleweight athletes, but I don’t use them on the front of my brochure, or use them in adds.  Why ? because nobody that buys supplements wants to be 175lbs shredded, they want to be 250lbs, or at least 220lbs shredded .Your build is great marketing to the average guy who wants to look lean and athletic, but MD is a hardcore magazine. Jorge your physique and your look is far from hardcore. Jorge I have met you on occasion and your a nice guy and I wish the best for you and your business’s just think what you posted on Getbig was very stupid and uncalled for. You called Steve Blechman stupid, and Kid, which in my opinion shows a sign of insecurity, and stupidity. From what I see Steve owned Twinlab, and owns MD, and you were a trainer, and just started a small nutrition company. I know you wanted to stand your ground and show you won’t take crap from Steve or MD. The problem here is you’re a newer company, that’s not very large in size, and you attacked somebody who has the best magazine, and is a big time player in this industry. That my friend was not a smart move.

What you did is make yourself look like a loud mouth and if I didn’t know you I wouldn’t take you or your product line seriously. I would think who is this joker attacking Steve Blechman on get big board, why isn’t he keeping this business between them. Also if I liked MD and I do I would be mad at you and I wouldn’t buy any of your products. The bottom line is Jorge, what you did was not only wrong, but very stupid. What you need to do is put your ego down and post an apology to Steve and hope this all blows over. Jorge this industry we are in is a $30 billion a year industry, but yet its a small tight nitched community as well. This means word gets around fast if a company is dishonest, the owner did something unethical in his past, or there products suck. All you have to do is look at the Ryan Titus incident, within 2 days everybody who ever lifted a weight knew what happened. Jorge the choice is yours, but if you were smart, you would do the right thing make your apology public, and move on. Or hope and pray that that stupid post doesn’t come back to haunt you, which in turn could hurt your business in the long run. Like it or not MD is the best bodybuilding magazine ever created, and is the new force in bodybuilding, so they are  not going anywhere soon. Jorge do the right thing

still cant read it.

can you actually break it into paragraphs rather than arbitrarily splitting the post into equal sections?

i might revisit this thread sometime next week to see how it's going and maybe read it..

but then again i might not..itll be wayy down the list and prob on page 4...i only read topics on page 1.

see how ive spaced it all out and made a point to clearly define purpose in each line?

I like what getitony usually say's and understand his point, but he reiterated a bit much about jorge not being freaky or md worhty, they do an amateur up'n comer column and that's a full 2 pager with good pic's.make your point and keep the smaller insult's to a minimum, the guy still has a great build and even say a tenth place finish is still commendable at that level show esp middles tough class alway's.he finished top 5 last few nat's too.

john, why you always spoutin about how much you weigh and compete at and shit? twice, at least, in the same post.

man, it seems like every post you've ever made on get big mentions your weight.

YES WE GET THAT YOU COMPETED AT 258 AND OFF SEASON 290 SOMETHING

impressive man but in an age of gh, insulin, igf 1 and 50 000 designer steroids to choose from is it really that impressive that one can gain weight?

london was apparently 290 off season and looked like a hand bag on stage.

jorge is a grown man, he was stressed and he chose to do it this way for several reasons, not just that he was ignored at the booth. how about you mind your own business and leave it between the grown ups. ;)

oh, btw, monster ass licking of steve blecheman.

Squad im not 220 im 265lbs, and no im not brown nosing Steve to get in MD, I have already been in MD when I was competing.I am retired now so I could care less about being in MD.Also if I wanted to be in MD all I would have to do is put a pic of myself in my magazine adds, just like Jorge did and im in MD.As for Vince this topic is far from over, for Jorge it is, but the other side is still quite bothered with the situation.Vince if you had a real company, that actually did a decent amount of buissness you would know this.I am not talking about selling bee pollen out of your fanny pack, I am talking moving 60,000 lbs of protein ever 2-3 weeks, and 10,000 bottles of ephedra a month.W
