I usually do supersets so by implication I am not going heavy. 55lbs db curl isn't a bad number with proper form.

actually, I also put 3 10's on each side for 10-12 rep, then drop set *no rest* all the way the down to the bar.

sorry if that sounds weak to you.

i forgot the best one, too many supplements and not enough food.

No.  The best one is not enough basic training and too many "gravity suits" ::)

Bwahaha. I'm waiting for the '08 model. I figure they will have gotten the bugs out of them by then and I can truly train in zero gravity without doing any real lifting.  8)

this is a great thread and makes a fantastic point. i recall that prior to the cell phone, no one ever sat around talking in the gym. in fact, talking was prohibited in most gyms. then people started bringing in cell phones and it all changed. suddenly everyone who for decades had been silently training so hard their blood vessels burst were now chatting. it made no damn sense!

of course, that was only half as bad as when the quarter squat was invented in 1997. most of the new kids are unaware that back in the day everyone did hardcore full squats at least twice a week. there was a big story in muscle and fitness about the creation of the quarter squat and it really changed everything. i recall that being a sad day.

yes, things certainly are different now. i think we all owe sarcasm our deepest thanks for bringing this oft-neglected issue to light. this is the first time i've ever seen anyone talk about lazy people in the gym, and this certainly does prove he's not a 14 year old kid.

headphones, quarter reps, too many machines, too many light dumbbell movements, Aeropostale, Under Armor, cell phones, gym music, no squats, no deadlifts, no barbell shoulder presses, it's pathetic.

100% agree! But who will teach them? Alexxx!!
just push some weight!

It's actually nice to have many more options of exercises to do than there where 20 or 30 years ago.  Especially if you are working around injuries or are older and can't do basic movements as well.  But the basic exercises are still the most effective.

i saw this father and son combo doing squats.....no joke, barely bendin their knees at all. it was such a joke.  not even half reps, little range of motion
Valhalla awaits.

isn't it though? until he had the courage to say it, i had never realized that people do half-range exercises and wear trendy clothing.
