wilfred sylvester has died of alzheimers. he was a former mr britain and stood 5 ft 3 shortest mr b ever. his real name was sylvester wilfred but at a contest they said his name backward and liking the sound of it he kept it that way. there is a good article of him in ironman volume 27 no 3.

his autographed photo i first met Wilf in the mid 80s.i went to check out a gym and he happened to be training there.he saw me looking at him,he stopped training came over said hi and shook my hand ,we had never met before.this was the wonderful person he was.i trained at his gym in the late 90s and and saw his health problems arise.iam extremely saddened by his death and my thoughts are with his family.R.I.P Wilf.

I remember when he won the "Mr. Universe" (IFBB World Champ. amateurs) at Cesars Palace in Las Vegas (erly to mid 80`s).
Hermann Hoffend (Germany, lives only a few minutes away from me) placed 2. in the same class.

wilf had a physique that was years ahead of time. in the sixties he had hardness that was required in the 80s competition level.he trained unbelievably hard, he would spend all day doing just one body part.

he was also an amazing human being.he used to chat to everyone with a smile on his face.in his presence he made you feel as if you were the special person and not him. one time i bought a dozen of his gym t-shirts and a few photos autographed by him to take to kashmir(pakistan)for friends who train.he would not take any money from me, i had to force him to take it.
