diet question for pros or experienced
« on: December 01, 2006, 04:35:39 PM »
as far as dieting to loose bodyfat goes....... what happens if you work 8-5 pm and are not a morning person at all and you love to workout in the evening and then go to bed. After your workout is the best time to get in the majority of your carbs. So I eat a big carb meal right after my workout and then drink a whey protein only and go straight to be. I also do low carbs for breakfast. I know this is like totally opposite of what everyone elso does. I eat preworkout carbs and post workout carbs.what do you guys think.

Meal 1 high protein/1 apple
meal 2 high proteinno carbs
meal 3 high proteinno carbs
meal 4 high protein/small carbs
workout workout workout
meal 5 high/protein heavy carbs
meal 6 whey protein only

honestly, if you want to loose the fat, you have to cut out the sugars.  The sugars are causing your insulin to spike thus making your body go into storage mode.  Complex Carbs won't do this.   Download the E-Book I posted in a previous post,  after you read this, you will know exactly how to loose the fat.
Right now I am doing 6 meals a day, but I am not eating any sugar.  Only Complex carbs ( oatmeal ), and starches ( potatoes ), and protien, ( eggs ).  I am also drinking a gallon of crystal light each day.

thanks for responding but did you read my message? I know exactly how to loose fat. I have been bodybuilding for 20 years. I am 33 and started when I was 14. I know all about the nutrition part of it.

I was asking a more in depth question. I was asking about people who workout hard at night and then go to bed 2 hours later. What meals would they eat most of their carbs while loosing bodyfat. I was hoping to get a pro to answer or an experience bodybuilder.

im 5'6" 190--- 10% bodyfat right now.

I would just go ahead and consume a modeate to heavy amount of carbs after the workout.  From what you listed it does not look as if you are consuming many carbs through out the day so taking some in after you workout should not hinder your fatburning even if it is in the evening.

For the post workout meal, I'd have a little dextrose but that's it, and I'd have it immediately after training. So you train, drink shake w/dex, drive home have last meal, which shouldn't be whey protein, and then sleep...las meal should be something a little "longer lasting" i.e. casein shake, egg whites, etc.

For your over-all carb consumption, I'd make my pre-training meal my higher carb meal, but that's me, I do better that way.

how on earth do you have any energy to train after eating almost no carbs all day before the workout, that's just dumb even if you are trying to lose body fat, just do more cardio, at 5'6" 190 you're nowhere near big enough to be cutting anything, get up to 235-240 first, also don't ask diet or training advice from a pro they're drugged to the gills, the rules are different for them.

that's the dumbest "diet" I've ever seen.

You NEED fats. Fish oil. Natural peanut butter. Olive Oil. Nuts.

some of you are not understanding my question. I am not asking for advice on a diet. I know how to diet. I was asking specifically about night training and arranging the carbs. Thats it. This is a modified version to get the question across.

I have plenty of fats in the protein and I take flax seed. The point was not to analyze my diet. this was just a brief summary to get my question asked about training at night and eating carbs before bed.

as long as you have aqequate carbs to lift for the duration of your wokrout, you are fine.  you will be able to lift just as much weight after eating a only a banana for carbs during the day than if you had been overloading your carb stores with complex carbs all day. (this is not opinion, but fact. research showed that overloading your carbs doesnt have any effect on effort perception when lifting.)    so to keep your body in a state of ketosis for the longest amount of time...jut get in enough carbs pre workout to suffice through the weight training.   the lead up to that you dont need any carbs. just healthy fats and proteins. pot workout  you need a small amount of simple carbs just to boost insulin levels for your whey to get in there... but after that you dont need any more carbs.   do some light cardio in the mornings to burn direclt into fat stores....the fat will melt off.

Arnold jr gave you an intelligent and direct response to your question.  The remaining responses may not have been what you were looking for, but YOU did post your diet.

im no pro but i work out at night also, due to school and work, i used to religious about getting 1.5 to 2 grams of protein per pound and controlling carbs when cutting, i took a chance after reading tons and tons not only on this site but many others on how much protein is overrated...try controlling your overall daily calorie count to lose weight and eat some of what you want along with heathly meals. workouts are just as intense if not more, feel better all day and eat what i want as long as its in calorie range. say your RMR is 2000 calories daily just to function, split that into 6 meals, around 334 in each meal, plus your protein shake after workout around 100 to 150 calories, so no your up to 2150 calories, you workout for 1 an to 2 hours, so say you burn around 500 calories from that...you can lose weight from just that and if you workout enough it will give you some cardio...take it for what you what, just trying to help enlightin that you dont always have to eat 12 ounces of meat and salad all the time enough that its good for some meals especially when your stomach is growling for a big meal.

meal 1-Protein in water, Bannana, 2 peices toast with low sugar jam
meal 2-peanut butter jelly sandwich, low sugar jam
meal 3-6oz chicken, some broccoli or can of green beans
meal 4-2 tablespoons peanut butter, bannana, cup of no sugar added applesauce
meal 5-same as meal 3
meal 6-2 tablespoons peanut butter, 1 small glass fat free milk

should get enought protein/fats/carbs, i believe in eating fats before bed since taking up to 4 or 5 hours to digest along with some casein in milk. as long as your in your calorie range shouldnt have to worry about storing as fat...try it for yourself works great i believe

It depends on the carbs you eat.  Try to stick to something complex, as it will burn calories as you sleep, plus it will not spike your insulin, putting your body into storage mode right before you sleep.
The Ebook I posted directly explains what are the good times of day to eat.
Plus the Ebook was written by a natural pro bodybuilder ( maybe someone you will listen to )

thank you Arnold Jr. I will try that out. Yes I just recently started to use Casein as my last shake before bed. I thank that makes alot of sense to do the pre-workout meal with more carbs and then after workout just enough dextrose for insulin spike. Yes I will definetely do this.

thanks.

Dark, this is exactly what I've been doing for the last 10 weeks with great results. I'm feel like I'm burning almost ALL fat and
sparing as much muscle as humanly possible. I'll check out the e-book you posted.
