that's what gets to me when it comes to pros and drugs. it's a safe bet that every top level, middle level, bottom level, and waiting-to-be-a-level pro is using more than a few ccs of gear. i know a kid in his early 20s (as in... he's 20), hasn't competed yet but looks like he could step on an amateur stage and do damn well. tight waist, all his hair, looks healthy, trains heavy and frequently, diets strictly. kid is on a heavy regimen of drugs complete with a little insulin pump hooked in his side, hopes to compete at 255 in his first show standing 5'10" and looks like he could pull it off.
now if that's some kid who doesn't have a pro card and isn't fighting for one yet, imagine what the guys in the top 3 at nationals are on, and imagine still what the guys in the olympia are on.
here's my point: drugs are obviously a giant part of the top tier bodies. the difference between the best naturals and the best pros is a good 70 pounds plus of muscle, straight math that's about 40% if i'm not mistaken. drugs make the difference between guys competing at 190-200 pounds (which may be a high estimate) and 260-280 all the way to 300 pounds. to suggest that drugs only account for 5% of a physique is just retarded.
BUT, and that's a big but right there, the difference of drugs BETWEEN pros isn't that major. does anyone believe that jay cutler is on some top secret drug program that chris cormier never got a hold of? did the chad hold out on flex, nasser, tom prince and the others and give ronnie his secret stash? probably not, the difference at that point is genetics, training, and diet.
and that brings us full circle. the difference between me and another natural guy is how good our genetics are, how hard we train, how strictly we diet. when we're both juiced to the gills, what makes the difference between us is the exact same thing.
sorry for the long post, guys.
