« on: December 06, 2006, 02:42:55 PM »

Fuck yeah.... People who do what they hate for the money are insulting thier dreams.  Do what you love but find a way to make as much money as possible doing it.

Of course it's always nice to love to do something extremely lucrative.

Agree with all the above - lie low for several months, rake in as much cash as you can (whilst looking for new jobs) and then resign (or take the new job) whichever comes first.

agreed. you gotta do what you gotta do to pay bills.

for example, I just bought a new car (2007 Ford Escape) so quitting a job right now is not in my best interests 8)

i recently quit my job.  If you wake up every morning not liking it quit, unless you have kids to feed or a mortgage to pay.

Valhalla awaits.

I was a school network tech making $36k, working 35 hours a week, easy job, but i completely hated the f'ing environment.  I quit, even though the woman and family all gave me shit for it.  Now I make more money (about 50% more, my first year in business), I work less hours, I post on getbig all day, and the only little rugrat I see all day is my own.

Go with your heart.  If you're not a lazy bastard, money will always come to you for your work.  And avoid dying industries.

What's your job?

it was doing piles/foundations for commercial/residential units.  Translated--shovel-carry water-shovel-carry water-repeat for 10 hours.   Pay was great--job was horrible.  I'm gonna sit around and scratch myself for a week or so before looking for work.  Its minus 30 here.

It's pessimistic but true.

True for most, but doesn't have to be.

In this day in age, how many people make good money to where they have no concerns and are not stressed?

There aren't many worry/stress-free highly paying jobs IMO, but it is certainly possible to make good money doing something you love.

Have another job lined up before quitting.  Take 2 weeks off before starting your other job.  Lot's of jobs don't suck.  I can't think of anything I'd rather be doing that what I do.  In the 2 weeks off chill and keep an eye opened for that dream job.  It's allot easier to get hired if you already are working.  The 2 weeks will give you a chance to cool off and get you ready to return to the work force.  It's only work if you'd rather be somewhere else.

I said MOST.  You're still right but there are more people out there that make great money and love their job than you think.
