Carbs after cardio?
« on: December 08, 2006, 07:28:53 PM »
I know carbs after weightlifting spike insulin and help muscle growth and recovery.

What about carbs after cardio?  Does this serve a purpose?  How much is good if any?

I'm trying to cut but I hate losing muscle as much as anyone.

no carbs.

in fact, if you want to know...the few grams of sugar that are included in whey protein shakes are al you really need carb wise after your workouts too.   cut out the post workout carbs except these, and your recovery and muscle size will grow just as fast, but you will lose much more fat.

What's your source on this? I have no seen anything that says exactly how much simple carbs are needed post-workout.

Bulk-up:

5 grams of carbohydrates per every 10 pounds of lean body bodyweight.
Cut-up:

2.5 grams of carbohydrates per 10 pounds of lean body weight.
Lean body fat is your bodyweight after you have subtracted your body fat percentage.

great info on post workout nutrition...

Post workout should be part of your daily meals, nothing fancy.
