Werner Herzog made a film in recent years ...a biography of a Jewish strongman of about a century ago in europe which is where,along with Quebec,  most of this type of thing was going on at the time. The protagonist's name escapes me at the moment but he was played by multiple World's Strongest Man Jouka Ahola. Strongmen were also the bodybuilders of the time in most cases eg Sandow, Hackenschmidt etc.

The Believer was a great movie... but it isn't about a guy who hates being a Jew, that's just the starting point. How'd you get that? It's more a flick about how his self-loathing gradually turns to self-realization and self-acceptance, and I guess the last scene where he's running up the never ending staircase, also some kind of hopelessness. It was a lot like American History X.
