Insulin and Diabetes?
« on: December 23, 2006, 02:50:12 PM »
I was wondering if there was any type of cycling procedure while taking insulin to prevent the onset of diabetes?  I know and have read the procedues on taking insulin I'm looking for something specific to delay or prevent onset of diabetes.

or

How much or how long can you take insulin before becoming insulin dependant?

230-240 lb young male
I was planning on running 5iu's and work up to 10 maybe more down the road ... How long could I pull that off before I would become diabetic?

Is it impossible to tell and more of a genetic thing... everyone reacts differently?

Any tell tale signs that your body is becoming insulin resistant and dependant?

I don't know anyone who became dependent. It's unlikely IMO unless you have some weird immune reaction to the exogenous insulin or use extreme amounts when you already are resistant due to being really fat etc. Then it might worsen resistance but still shouldn't "knock out" your pancreas.

Signs of becoming severely resistant/diabetic: sudden weight loss, blurry vision, increased urination and thirst.

I'm no doc though and wouldn't recommend insulin to anyone.
