that's not a gut, that's what used to be called "failure to control his stomach" everybodies stomach hangs out a little when it's relaxed, that's what you're seeing there.  GH guts didn't become all the rage until about 6-7 years ago, this is a little before everybody started totally overdoing the whole GH thing.  Genetically Dave just has an ugly physique it just looks wierd.

plus another thing that's interesting is that he's hard, defined and seperated in that video, let's say his BF% is about 3%, just as a nice round number.  Now take ANYBODY in the top 10 at the olympia and put them next to Dave there, even if they are at 3% or lower, they won't demonstrate the same level of hardness, refinement or definition as he does there because everybody is relying on things like GH and more and more drugs to get the look they want.  I'd rather have everybody step back and go for the kind of look-condition wise-that dave has there than what we see today.

he has a very ugly body I just think you're confusing what a "gut" is vs. just not controlling it on stage.  I don't think people really nailed GH up until a few years later so he wouldn't have "a gut" by today's standards back in 95.

He's really muscular, but something doesn't look right, narrow clavicles maybe?  Most muscular looks like Branch Warren's, sort of disappears up top.

That's what I was thinking - very poor in the delt region. His waist is almost as wide as his shoulders.

'95 was the first time I saw Dave in person ready for a show.  He was in a different solar system as far as conditioning.  Unfortunately, he doesn't have ideal genetics for shape, width, etc...

Growth was used during this year, but very limited in top NPC shows.  Don't take this as gospel, but I think Dave was trying it during this show/season.

I could tell you right now that IF he could present THAT physique in today's NPC Nationals show he would turn pro. Damnnnnnnnnnn, what  a ripped beast !!!! Look at his legs, specially from behind. You can clearly see his addcutors insertions , and they hang from the whole leg. You don't see that on your average pro, today. And he has no gut at all in that posing routine. Natural Al nailed it, IMO. He failed to control his stomach, that's all. He was very proportioned at that time. He just didn't have the best scapulae development of all, but he sure was good enough to fit his proportions. And what about the glute development AND condition? Freaaaaaaaakkkkk......
