Does a "hardcore" gym has any chance to survive?
« on: December 27, 2006, 03:02:39 AM »
Let's assume that you want to open a gym. You take a look around and feel that in the city (large city) you life there are already enough "wellness centers" "fitness temples" and so forth.

Do you think a "hardcore" gym mainly for the serious lifters has any chance of survival?
I'm talking about a gym were a sign at the entry informs people to beware of Meatheads with Roidrage? A place were most getbiggers would fit right in a place were 24 would stand out like a sore tooth.

If its located in a big city, it will most likely survive. You will most likely not earn the jackpot, but thats probably not what you are after. I would love to have a real hardcore gym in the future, with the size of a regular golds gym.

Nowadays is very difficult to train in a non-hardcore gym, bacause people are gayer than ever. Gyms now are changing their courses to the fitness and gay area. But I think that there will always be hardcore gyms, because there will always be people who wnat to train serioulsly.

I seen a truly hardcore gym in central Florida once that was for competing powerlifters and serious

bodybuilders only...The guys rates were outrageous, but pre-opening he only let a certain number of guys

join the club and that was it and all those guys had to sign an agreement that they would compete in a

powerlifting/bodybuilding competition withing 1-year's time and have the gym sponsor them at whatever

competition they chose to do....Needless to say when the gym first opened he was turning guys down left

& right wanting memberships at his gym...A few months later his gym went down the tubes not being able

to afford his lease....Go figure...If your not in it for the money, than yes a truly hardcore gym can make

it, but barely and if you have good financial backing...

what's the difference if it's hardcore or not? what's hardcore anyway? f@@king phlegm globbers on the wall, a non-functioning toilet filled with some fat powerlifter's protein dumps, old ass vintage 1980's weight systems all rusted to hell?  that's the last place i'd like to give my money too---my gym is far from that but they don't stop me from doing deads, squats, grunting--shit like that..they even have dumbbells that go up to 150lbs...does that make it hardcore?  you dudes kill me...

No, they truly don't have a chance for survival, not enough meatheads in any city other than the huge ones, normal size town, no way.  You have to cater to the women and couples to survive.

One more thing a hardcore gym is gonna bring, undercover narcs.  I worked out at a gym before i opened mine, it became known you could score juice there.   FBI busted in with masks and guns, everyone on floor, searched every gym bag , found roids in owners office, loaded the entire gym up in two semi-s that day, all the equipment and even the carpet, he only got probation but never got his equipment back.

You need to f**k of to bb.com bro.

you might want him to go to BB.com.....but hes pretty much right! what constitutes "hardcore". you can open a gym that has a "hardcore" edge, but the end all be all will be the $$$$$ that needs to come in to pay the bills. $6-$8000 in rent alone, plus power, equipment leases, employee salary, advertising......these are monthly bills that dont go away. start doing the math....youll be supprised to see how many people you need to have join in order to keep your doors open.

the days of the hardcore gym are gone.....we must face it. you can be as hardcore as you want, but the soccer moms are the ones that are gonna keep the food on your table.

right where I used to live there was a hardcore gym called "muscles" and about 1/2 mile away they opened a powerhouse "fitness center".  dB's only up to 100lbs, "Powerhouse TV" on all the time, TV's everywhere.  That was about 5 years ago.  I was in the old neighborhood over the weekend and muscles was packed..powerhouse, not so much.

there's another hardcore gym in my area, I go there every once in awhile, I work on the other side of town so it's a little out of my way to go there-I train at a powerhouse by my work....anyway the hardcore place by my house is always packed. Lots of cools stuff there, I'd love to train there fulltime.  They've got 2 powerlifting teams you can join, karate class, boxing class, dumbells up to 130's, hammer strength machines, some old nautilus machines, tons of free weights, 4 or 5 power racks, a bunch of "old school" machines and a portion of the gym is outside in a "pit" like muscle beach..they even call it "muscle beach" it's cool as hell to workout there in the summer.

im thinking in maybe someday open one near me...

lots of tvs with porno on it, just Opeth and Meshuggah playing out loud, dumbells up to 400lbs (just to create the gossip of 'i heared that there is one guy in the morning that train with that' lol'). Straps, belts, chalk, gloves all for FREE to use, and of course, a giant fridge with all the test, gh, winstrol, nubain, etc you can have!

just with posters of Ahnold on the walls, and some of Vida Guerra naked!!!

all girls train for free, but they have to train in bikinis!!!!!
