He is supposed to, but GSP is currently hurt, and he must fight Serra first.

ofcourse he will, in this era of UFC rubber matches its only a matter of time. Plus he's going to want to get the title back and i dont see anyone else taking the title from GSP right now. But to win, Hughes is going to have to do something special cos GSP was spot on when he beat him

Unless Hughes is able to get into his "riddum,"  I don't see how he could beat GSP.  GSP was able to dictate the pace of the fight, set Matt up perfectly with a good penetrating jab, and an inside cut kick.  When Matt did shoot, GSP was able to fight off a bodylock, and defend the takedown.  Much like Chuck is made to fight Ortiz, GSP is made to fight Hughes.  (In the first fight, Matt won a hard fought scramble to secure a far side armbar, prior to that GSP was having his way with him on his feet, even hit him with a realkarateblackbelt reverse kick)

That being said, if BJ is motivated, he will beat GSP in a rematch.

BJ has all the ability in the world to beat anyone, he just seems to have gone off the boil. Hes beginning to reming me of Vitor in that he seems to have peaked far too early

GSP is much quicker than matt...matt will need to use better technique to overcome the GSP speed..however,matt looked terrible in his last couple of fights(compared to his previous wins) and i think GSP has his number.. Bj just has a major cardio deficiency,if he fixes it,he'll have a good shot at GSP and/or matt..

I don't see what Matt could do to impose his will on GSP.  Matt's striking is nowhere near GSPs, and he will have to traverse striking range to get into the clinch.  IF MATT could get the takedown and maintain top position, he could elbow from half guard until he got a TKO.  But that is a big IF.  BJ can stand and trade with GSP.  He got the better of the standup in their match.  GSP was desperate to get to the ground, where he layed and prayed for the split decision.  Like it was previously mentioned, GSP is part of the new breed fighter who not only is well rounded, but a STUD athlete.

Absolutely; Dana'll promote the hell out of that rubber match.  Hughes will really have to bring his A game; it was amazing to watch a great athlete get dominated like that.

I think Hughes needs to do some Rocky 3 type shit and hide /train his ass off.  GSP is the new Clubber Lang... ;D

Except this time, Clubber keeps the belt ;D

How do all of you newbies to MMA think B.J. was beating GSP in their first? He fucking GOUGED GSP's EYE. GSP by his own words, was seeing double. THAT IS THE ONLY AND I MEAN ONLY reason why BJ was winning the first round. There is absolutely NOTHING B.J. can offer than GSP cannot match and/or overpower with. God damn it, if you keep sucking B.J's dick, you might as well call yourself the TUF guys you are.

Hope this helps.

i'm not a bj fan, but he will certainly give GSP a better fight than matt will..I think GSP will retain the belt for quite some time..however,you can't say bj isn't good..he is still a top level fighter

Nice try but I am sure GSP still won't go out with you.  BJ was killing him despite the accidental eye gouge.  Maybe you should check your self into a rehab clinic now.  Then by the time you get out BJ and GSP will fight again and you'll see no mercy from BJ. Hope this helps

B.J. is fuckin lazy. I don't care if his parents are wealthy or not, if you get paid to be the main event of a fight, get your lazy ass in shape.

You obviously aren't talking about the BJ Penn who dominated Hughes in their first match on their feet, on the ground and eventually RNCed him.  Or the BJ Penn that destroyed Bang Ludwig right after Bang KOed Jens, or the BJ that dominated Takanori Gomi on his feet, then RNCed him, or the BJ Penn that stood with a bigger and stronger Lyoto Machida and traded and lost a decision (even though he was fighting up two classes), the same Machida who KOed Ace and Stephan Bonnar.  Or the BJ that dominated Rodrigo on the feet, ground and clinch, and made Renzo look human even though he was terribly out of shape.  No, I just must be a jockrider who knows as much as a TUF newb.  If you ever get a chance, get some mat time with BJ, it is EXTREMELY humbling, even when you outweigh the guy by 25+ lbs.  They don't call him the phenom for nothing.  Randy Couture gets subbed by BJ as does Matt Lindland.

BTW, GSP was sent to the hospital after their fight, while BJ looked unscathed.  Rewatch round 1, BJ was beating him to the punch, countering effectively showing good head movement and footwork.

Lets not forget the dominating performances with Din, Genki Sudo, UD Serra

I am pretty confident you couldn't last one of training with BJ.  Guaranteed.  His body is not going to be ripped and muscled out like Matts or GSP.  That is his body type.  And please don't tell me you think he ran out of gas for the last Hughes fight.  That right there will show your ignorance.  He had seprated ribs that he suffered in the 2nd round.  If that didn't happen he would have won it in the second.  He could barely breathe for the 3rd and almost wasn't going to keep going.  He fights and fights and fights 5 to 6 days a week for 5+ hours a days.  You couldn't hold his spit bucket.

The one chink in BJs armor is his desire level.  WHEN he is motivated, he is a different animal.  He has the ability and skills to beat everyone if he chooses.  From everyone I train with, to people who train in his camp or at HMCs (Hawaii Martial Arts Center with Haru Shimonishi) everyone says the same thing.  BJ has a penchant to party A LOT, BJ has a hard time taking advice from others.  IF he ever gets those two items worked out, he will be as dominating as he was when he went on that tear that started with the Hughes victory.  (I calls em like I sees um)  His corner also has a mandate of not telling him what to do.  (It works for him, so what the hell)

I don't give a fuck if he is one of the thousands of "name drops" you use on here, the guy is fucking lazy and was in horrible shape for his Hughes fight. Deal with it.

All u BJ fans obviously did not listen during the fight, it was said that BJ does not like the life of a fighter and does not train, 4-5 hours a day, he trains hard for 1-2 days then takes a couple of days off.

Thats intersting. I need to check my watch.  He trains in the morning and late afternoon (early night).  I do business with his family.  I talk to his brothers nearly everyday.  JD trains allot with him.  All he does is fight.  That is his cardio.  He does not like treadmills or other stand alone shit.  He surfs and swims allot.  But it is the fighting where the cardio comes in.

Closet queers like danielson are one of those wannabes who reads and watches TV to learn everything he knows.  No real life experiences to draw from.  He is entertaining but basically a waste of space.  Not everyone can be insuch great shape as he is.  He is one of a kind.  Thank god.

Fuck you Keith. I am calling it like I see it. You happen to ""know" the guy like you "know" everyone. He doesn't have the heart of a champion, if he did, he would be.

hahahaha, it's funny watching Keith try to play it off like BJ has amazing cardio. I haven't seen a fight the clown hasn't gassed in by the end. Watch out though, Keith will name drop from 50 years ago about someone no one cares about anymore thus proving his point!

Still has a complete game, striking, clinch and ground.  He can GNP or submit.  Have you seen him in GQ, he is a stud on the mat.  I won't discount the lack of motivation, or his work ethic, his love of partying.  Everyone knows these are the things that hang him up.  But on any given day, when motivated, he is the best P4P fighter in the world.

If I remember right he was champion.  If I remember right didn't he win some big event in Brazil too.  Ummmmmm.  So Matt Hughes doesn't have a heart either of a champion since he isn't a champion, cause if he did he would be.  I'm glad you are calling it like you see it.  And I thought I was losing my eyesight.

I'm not playing off anything.  Everyone could have better cardio.  I have seen the fights.  Hughes, GSP and just baout everyone else is shot after 3 rounds.  And the guys BJ fights look like shit at the end of the fight.  No name dropping here needed.  I have no point to prove. You guys are doing good by yourselves
