Princess: Lemon Juice a Diuretic???
« on: January 06, 2007, 09:32:05 AM »
Princess (or anyone else who has the answer),
I read an article about the combative benefits of lemon juice helping to prevent kidney stones.
http://www.healthfinder.gov/news/newsstory.asp?docID=532869
One specific property of lemon juice that the article mentions is the increase in urine volume.

So my question is: Does lemon/lemon juice act at all as a diuretic? Or is the increase in urinary output unrelated to the body excreting fluids it ALREADY retains (in the subcutaneous layer)?

Tanx!

Yes lemon juice (diluted) has been used as a diuretic.

grapefruit juice is as good as lemon juice and even more 'drinkable'.

Not sure of the diuretic properties, but I recently found this at the grocery store.  If you like the taste of lemon or lime, just add to your water.
