IFBB could go down??
« on: January 10, 2007, 11:18:41 AM »
PDI is coming out and getting better, a few names already and more to come.  There is obviously room for two organizations but what if PDI cleans out the IFBB. Employees or Competitors will go to where they are treated right, payed well and get a chance to excel they are just scared to take the big step right off the bat.  Give it half to maybe 1 more year people.

im not saying it can't happen becuase anything is possible but it would take alot of the top guys to leave AND a big one is that the Mr.O is currently the biggest title you can hold and as of right now that show is an IFBB show.

Maybe, if people concentrated on just making PDI a good organization in its own right, instead of obsessing with it destroying the IFBB, business will pick up.

The World Bodybuilding Federation had 13 guys, many of whom were among the IFBB's best (Strydom, Christian, M.Quinn, DeMey, Pearson, Robinson, etc). PDI is attempting to build from the ground up with guys from other organizations, NPC bridesmaids, and IFBB also-rans (excluding Priest and supposedly Dillet).

A number of the top pros are being "treated right" and "payed well" by the IFBB. So, contrary to what some folks here have prophecied, I don't see any mass exodus of bodybuilers from the IFBB to PDI.

Remember guys, like the late Ed Kawak and John Terilli bounced from the IFBB to NABBA/WABBA and back.

that would be shocker wouldn't it? THAT would make people talk!!  :D  now obviously thats a dramitic jump and you couldn't do that but having Dex win would have been good, debatable and you could get away with it.  If they judged they way they were supposed to, he would have won anyway or Vic.  Im not saying i want anything because you can't compare this to hockey or football, But the 2 NOCs were done awesome! the routines were great, new and fresh everyone had a blast and it wasn't bad at all for a new organizations 1st few shows.

And just how are they supposed to judge the show? When Ronnie Coleman was winning left and right, people were complaining about how dull and predictable bodybuilding is. Now, some of these same folks FINALLY got to see what they wanted (i.e. another bodybuilder taking the Mr. Olympia title from Coleman), yet we still have folks who aren't satisfied.

I think Melvin Anthony would be a better pick than Dexter Jackson. He's bigger and has just as good (if not better) shape and proportion.

yes Melvin too, top 3 Imo should have been Vic,Dex, and Melvin, doesn't have to be that order.  and your right i agree there will always be unsatisfied people, what i was saying is they IF they followed their judging critera (symmetry, etc basically the guys without the guts) The top 3 should have been the 3 names i mentioned.  Heres something interesting, do you think Ronnie or Markus would place high with the PDI?? depending on who else is in it, i don' t think they would.

I don't wish their demise...just the opposite. All the power to them. My sticking up for MY federation has nothing to do with the PDI...but Keith likes to point out that the IFBB doesn't pay anyone a salary, as if the PDI does...

As far as I know NO  BB federation pays their athletes...

Chick's doing his job and looking out for the majority of the pro's best interests, it's his opinion that the PDI won't improve the average standard of remuneration for the competitors, even if Priest might be able to make a good living by dominiating over there.

Well stated...

As I've said many times now...the PDI wont make the IFBB do anything, as they have yet to pull any "first tier" BBers away...and won't. They (PDI) aren't offering anything more than the IFBB is.

The WBF and McMahon managed to get some top BBers to switch because he offered guarunteed contracts and bigtime money to the athletes...the PDI offers those who cant make any money in the IFBB a chance to possibly make money in their organization, because the talent pool isn't as deep.

this is fine for those interested, but won't change the make-up of the IFBB athletes, as those not making money should consider going anyways...those making money wouldn't consider it for obvious reasons...

It would be a different story if Wayne was offering big money to the top dogs...but he's not and he cant.

All the rest is bullshit.

exactly, there should be room for 2 organizations.  If there is 2, more will go to PDI.

And yet Lee's reason for crossing over wasn't really his own pay cheque, it was his placings, disputes over contracts, etc. ect. etc........ I wonder how long he can keep the harmony at the PDI for.

Oh someone be sure to copy this post.  First off most would consider Lee a first tier competitior.  Deifitely one of the most popular in the world.  Second, you have NO idea who is coming over.  Not even close.  So don't embarrass yourself by keep saying no 1st tier guys would leave.  Cause you WILL be eating your words.  Thats a fact.  Right now people are making money in the PDI.  IN fact more people are making money from the PDI statistically than in the IFBB.  Less then 15% at the most make anything from competing in the IFBB.  And the PDI is just a year old and already they are paying out more than every IFBB show except for 2 or 3.  What does that have to say about the IFBB.  Next year their will be more PDI shows than IFBB shows which in turn allows the competitors to make more money.  Like you say to me, don't talk about stuff you have no idea about.  SO far you are batting a big fat 0% with you predictions about the PDI.  Stop while you still have some dignity.

Lee is a first tier competitor...never said he wasn't. I was referring to any OTHER pro's following in his footsteps.

"statistically"? You cant compare over 200 athletes in the IFBB to 20 in the PDI. Your also not factoring in the supplement contracts and other monies the athletes from the IFBB bring in as a direct result of being in the IFBB and what comes with it.

Example: Lee was making twice as much with Twinlab and his assoc. with the IFBB, than he is now with the new company and the PDI. Lee also would have made more in the Olympia than he did winning BOTH PDI shows...

I'll take a "wait and see" approach to whose (alledgedly) going to join and what shows will actually come to fruition...

Lets not forget my friend...there have been many plans and promises that havent come through for the PDI.
