Nobody in Jersey calls it the beach except for maybe some people who live in the small towns around The Shore. 80% of the people who go to the Jersey Shore are from north Jersey and New York, and another 15% are from Philly and other parts of PA. All of whom call it The Shore. The last 5%...maybe they refer to it as the beach.

exactly I grew up in NOrth Jersey and we always went to the Shore, Lavalette, Seaside, Spring Lake, Belmar. I live in NY now and still call it the Shore. I miss the Shore. The Shore rules.

Exactly.  It's a damn beach.  The locals don't even want you their.  You're the reason they call it Sleaside because the fucking trash from NY and North Jersey come down and dirty it up.  That was a direct quote from my gf, a local of LBI.

Your "girlfriend" don't know shit. LBI has a population of probably 1000 people. Without the "trash" you speak of, there would be no money whatsoever in those little hick towns with no industry to speak of. Of course the locals want the beach to themselves. But it the people in north Jersey who make the money that makes those little beach towns function. dude you can't beat the Jersey Shore, it has some of the best beaches and boardwalks in the world. THey are wide and the sand is white and smooth. It is rare and beautiful. Now Belmare is a bit trashy but its not that bad. ANd Seaside is honky tonk, thats what they promote with the boardwalk and rides and (amazing italian sausage sandwiches) games and everything, if they didn't want that then why keep the boardwalk. THe New Jesey Shore belongs to all Jersians not just you because you girlfriend happen to be born down the block.

Yea, Tom's River is nice as hell.    I know most are second homes because they rent to people but call beach kids/people hicks doesn't exactly fit.  Not even sure how you justify a remark like that.  Belmar is a beach, Seaside is a beach.  If you came to CA, would you call it the shore?  No.  You would call it the beach and ask which specific one you should go to.  And yes, the blue collar people of North Jersey are just a little bit better than AZ but def behind CA.  Hope that helps.
