If I could live anywhere, I'd live in the best place to live in the world is somewhere like Southern California, either San Diego or LA. There is mile after mile of golden, sandy beaches, a perfect tropical climate, palm trees, the best clubs, bars, shops, everything. Plus the Mecca VENICE BEACH AND GOLDS
California is the place to be and it RULES.
And Vegas and Miami of course
Hell lets face it, most of the cities in the US just suck. Washington is cold and has the highest the crime rate in the US, New York is cold and smoky with gang violence, San Francisco is full of gays, New Orleans has been wiped out and it just a dump thanks to Katrina, Chicago is cold and windy and dangerous, Boston is small, expensive and there's nothing there, Orlando only has disney land, Seattle is as cold as Canada and is just a little decaying port town
Yes & no. Obviously it also depends on what you're looking for and age. Agree on Boston, Chicago, NY, Washington, etc. but you're way behind in your perceptions on Cali. Now it sucks in many areas thanks to high real estate and traffic congestion, because everyone thought like you and moved there over the last couple of decades. 15-20 years ago you'd have been right. San Diego's the best big city there, very nice, the main drawbacks being rents and real estate and a more conservative social climate, but it's still nice besides that and some heavy but not unbearable traffic.
LAs got some upsides like the weather and Venice beach but like NYC also has real negatives related to quality of life, which is why it's hated by many. Both are huge cities that might appeal to a 20-something then can get wearing later in life. San Fran's nice but way too expensive.
Vegas & Miami are nice in some ways and unpleasant in others. In Vegas there's no city center to go to, and the types of people living there lack any history with the place, lots of transplants and transients, can leave something to be desired. Same in Miami-lots of transplants and burnouts, not a lot of history, plus there's rising crime and the weather's not so pleasant some of the time, with high humidity. Good jobs in Miami aren't that plentiful IMO.
Canada you can freeze your ass off with brutal artic cold, but on the other hand the economy there's been much better than the US for years now, Toronto especially. And the infrastructure's better than many US cities.
If you want to party, Thai islands and Goa India amongst others in the winter along with the Winter Music Conference in Miami in March. NYC, Montreal, Ibiza, Amsterdam, Mykonos and Istanbul in the summer.
