question for Onlyme
« on: January 13, 2007, 11:58:07 AM »
did you ever armwrestle John Brzenk? i saw a tournament on espn2 last night and this guy was ridiculous, he was 42 yrs old and didnt seem nearly as big as the other guys yet he never even came close to losing, he kept a completely straight face and appeared to be toying with the stongest competitors around, crazy. the other competitors seemed to respect him as a god.

I did at the Over the Top event in Denver.  I didn't know who he was.  I beat everyone that day and took first ($1000) to qualify for the finals in Las Vegas.  The rules stated that once you win an event you can't enter another qualifier.  Well I learned later that John purposely lost (took second place $500) at every event in 3 weight classes just so he could compete at all the events.  The last event he took 1st place in all three weight classes he entered.  He was and is the best armwrestler in history.  Absolutely unreal.  Not huge or anything just had the bigesst tendon in his arm I have ever felt.

awesome...so he let u beat him? just looking at the guy you'd have no idea that he'd be so good. is it all in the tendon? i wonder what kind of lifts this guy could do in the gym, like if he could curl insane poundages

He didn't workout back then.  All he did was armwrestle.  He would stay 2 hours after an event and armwrestle anyone and everyone.

Awesome videos.  What most people can't understand is how hard it is once a match is longer than 5 seconds.  It is so demanding and just your whole body is shaking.  I used to wrap my right leg around the leg of the table.  The next day I would have a huge bruise on my calf. I would end up in a sling for 2 or 3 days after a hard event.  It just uses muscles you can't train in the gym. It takes such tendon power.  John is the best ever and to watch a 190 lb guy beat guys weighing 300, 400 and 500 pounds is awesome.
