Big Screen T.V.'s
« on: January 13, 2007, 08:10:57 PM »
OK guys I need some information.I know nothing about electronics. I am looking to buy a big ass t.v. and I don't know what to get. I don't care about the latest super expensive flat panel. I just want to buy a big ass television. ;D  My question is this; What do I need to look for to make sure that the television will work with just regular cable television service? I don't have digital cable but might consider it. I really don't watch tv that much  anyway...but I want a big television. I don't want to buy something and then find out that I must have special equipment or service to use it. That is the reason for this post.
What does it mean if it says it is a projection tv? I know these questions are common knowledge to many of you,but I just have never kept up with that stuff.Any info is appreciated.

I've got a 57" projection TV, and the main thing that I've always been told is that you shouldn't leave it on pause for a long time, or else the image on the screen will burn itself into your screen. Depending on the images brightness, it could take as little as 5-10min. Or so I've been told.
I'm quite happy with my TV, and I got such a great deal on it, which is pretty much the only reason I bought it.

You are correct about the burning image. Read that before.

Imagine some kid watching porn while his parents were at church or something and pausing it on some skank's snatch while he whacked off. hahahaha

50 inch 1080pi Samsung. Great quality plasma. They go for about $2799 nowadays(Even though I paid over $3800 for it over a year ago >:().

If you really want to pay top dollar, go with Pioneer Elites or the Fujitsu(very high end). My pops bought a 65 incher for $13,000. Incredible quality.

Stay away from the extended warranties that the sales reps try to push on you. Unless you use complete negligence, those TV's are built to last at least 5-7 years with little or no technical problems.

Get a 15 degree rotating wall mount as well. they go for about $300 unless you get the rotating left to right version which is a couple hundred dollars higher.

Hey Body88, I hope your Pats win today!

Thanks I hope so to! I feel for you brother. That defensive perfomance was brilliant last night, Mcnair did not have a good night.

The Indy d played very good, which ob magnified his struggles.

Thanks, man. I'm hurting right now. At least it didn't come down to a last second botched field goal. Mcnair and the offense lost the game, bottom line. Expect major changes at running back and wide receiver this offseason.

If the Pats win today, they go to Indy for the AFC title game. How do you like your chances?

I think they have a shot. As proven last night anything can happen. The patriots need to tackle, they need to try and exploit the weak san d secondary and Brady need time to get the ball off. The offensive line needs to have a big time game. There are plays lurking in those blitzes. They need to do a good job of containing LT and make sure they tackle well. Christ, LT gets more most rb's averages after he is hit on a carry. I also think Maroney Faulk and Dillon can be a huge factor if we can spread em out.The chargers tend to over persue at times. Most are focusing on the mvp, and sleeping on these three. Maroney was injured for 3 games and his buzz quited down at the end of the year. He is the real deal and has a serious Burst with power.

The patriots have the best defensive line in football. They are going to need it against this Clydesdale they are facing.

Basically they need to bring there A game, and Bill needs to do what he is famous for. If they turn it over or LT starts blowing up the d they will lose. If Merriman and co start blowing up the offensive line and Brady has no time to throw they will lose. If they turn it over and play sloppy ball, they will lose.

San D is a great football team. The patriots must play steller football to win today.

Check this out

quarterback : Advantage NE ( Brady 2 time superbowl mvp,3 time sb winner, 11- 1 postseason)

Running back  : Advantage San D ( While Maroney Faulk and Dillon are very good...  LT is on another level, neal is a monster and Turner is pretty good to)

Recievers : .Slight advantage pats. Pats have  slightly better recivers as a whole. McCardel has been a disapointment for the chargers. San D's top two recievers are the tight end and the running back. Neither group (wr's) are stars. 6'4, 240 lb Chad Jackson is healthy and could have a break out game for NE. With the reliability of Caldwell and Brown and the break out game Gaffney had I give them the slight edge

D line : Advntage pats : Wilfork and Willaims are the best in the game, the advantage to the pats is made by Seymour and Warren, who are slightly better then Castillo and Olhansky

Offensive line : advantage San D  While the the NE O line has suffered from injury this year they have come on strong. Only allowing 5 sacks in the last 4 games. Lt's ability makes it hard to tell how well the line actually is blocking, but I give the advantage to the chargers since they had fewer sacks this year

Linebackers : advantage San D ( MERRIMAN= Beast)

Secondary : advantage pats ( Asanti samuel has 11 picks on the year the chargers finsihed 13th aginst the pass giving up 19 tds. The pats secondary have only given up 10 tds on the year

Special teams : advantage San D   which comes down to the kicker, Glaskowski has very good .769 making 20 - 26 while Keading is a near perfect .897 making 26 -29 The pats have slightly better coverage but the nod goes to san d because of the spectacular field goal unit. Maroney has a 30 yard return average, to turners 25 yard average

Coaches : huge advantage NE :  Bill ( 3 time superbowl winner 12-2 postseason) ( Marty 5 12 postseason chokemaster)

The chargers are better talent wise but the pats match up well.

Man, you really know your squad inside and out and I respect that. I hope you win today because Peyton never plays the Pats well. Therefore, it looks pretty likely your boys are going to Miami provided they get past the Bolts.

Best of luck!

I saw some kid in town last night driving around with "COLTS" painted extremely big on  both  sides of his car with spray paint. ::) That's a bit too much for me.It was not an expensive car,but it didn't look to be a piece of shit either... Funny thing was,it was a red car and he used Blue spray paint.

The only time I really though colts fans where tards was when the colts lost to NE in that 2003 playoff game. Then colts president Bill Polian cried to the nfl that NE had been allowed to manhandle his recivers. Forget the fact Manning threw 4 interceptions in that game. The best part about the whole thing was Polian was a memeber of the commitee that changed the rules after he cried. ::) news flash this is football guy, if you cant win dont lose like a asshole ::)

At that point Indy had lost 14 of there 16 meetings with NE.
