The NPC judging procedures are beyond excellent if followed precisely with no outside interference or preplanned inuendos.
In fact I don't think there could be a better way to judge a bodybuilding contest.
Would take a lot of writing to explain how it is done, but maybe Chick could copy the procedure from the rulebook and submit it to all your GetBiggers who may be interested. If you could actually improve on it (I doubt any of us can), then I'm sure that someone higher up would listen.
One promoter many years ago thought that the NPC judging procedure was bad so he opened up the judging and let the audiance decide on the placings by audiance response (clapping).
That turned out to be a major fiasco and he who had the most fans in the house, took home the bacon. The promoter liked that cause it placed more asses in the seats.
There is also a complicated formula to determine how well the judges are doing, but I don't know if they use that formula any longer. If a judge didn't get a required score after judging a contest, he was dropped from the judging roster until his/her score improved while "Test judging".
That's how it was done in the old days, but it may be different today. It appears that sometimes the "good old boy attitude" takes precidence over the "gooder" ways that things used to be accomplished.
The above pertains to NPC judging only. I don't have enough experience to offer valid comments on the IFBB procedures as it could have been reajusted recently and it has been many a year since I judged an IFBB sanctioned event.
