Whats you favourite Sporting moment and why?
« on: January 15, 2007, 11:43:54 AM »
Mine is simply when England Beat Austrailia to win the Rugby World cup!!

It was about 8'o clock in the morning and I was drinking White Russians with all of my best friends and the times Austrailia had beaten us were too many to count in many sports.

But for once we finally fucking won something huge and we won it in Extra time with a drop goal, the feeling of tension lifting is something I will never forget, truly my best moment..

I got very very drunk after which made it better but i'll never forget it!!

Whats yours?

The Niners winning Super Bowls
The Niners beating the Cowboys
The Cowboys losing
The Lakers winning championships
The Lakers beating the Celtics (back in the 80s)

Hatton battering Tszyu, Bruno winning the world title, Liverpool winning the 2005 CL - these are all very special moments to me. The boxing fights were because i always had an unswerving faith in both fighters and to see them win the title proved my faith was worthwhile. It made me proud to be English.

The CL win needs no explanation

Some of my favorites:

92 Barcelona - When Carl Lewis considered old and done takes the anchor for the 4X100 relay team full of the "new generation" runners and not only smokes the field but they break the US and world record.

97 Nebraska vs Missouri - down 38-31 4th down on the 12 yrd line. I watched this all go down in a Sears at the mall. Nebraska tied the game on that kicked ball deflected to the WR then won in later in OT. I thought this was incredible at the time.

90 Houston Couger QB David Klingler passing for over 700 something yards and like 10 td's. I just remember thinking "pour it on man" LOL!

9? - Not sure what year it was (early-mid 90's), but Florida St had just finished destroying Rutgers like 70-0 on espn. After the game, the rutgers coach said "he (Bobby Bowden) ought to be ashamed of himself, these are kids!" .....When told about what the rutgers coach said, Bowden replied, "Don't put us on your schedule then!" LMFAO!!!! ;D ;D ;D

Lemme think...

When Man U was behind 0-1 against Bayern Munich in CL finale.
And in the last minute they score twice.

That's probably the craziest thing i've seen.

As usual people like Flower ruin things, it was reported to Ron and just dissappeared.

It was harmless but Ron will bend over backwards for the women for some reason they have a hold on him or something, oh well he is fat and i'm not

Yeah, Wilko's drop goal was a great moment

Leeds winning the league
Leeds champions league run, eventually getting knocked out by Valencia
Winning the Ashes
Any Tyson fight before he lost
Eubanks/Benn Eubanks/Colins Eubank/Watson
Ben Johnsons 100m victory
Watching Naseem Hamed get beat
Jona Lumo smashing through an England defence like they weren't there
Hulk Hogan v Sgt Slaughter when the Hulk took a flame thrower blast in the face
Ian Botham winning us the Ashes
Liverpools champions league final
Liverpool v West Ham FA Cup final
Ronnie O'Sulivan becoming world champ and his fastest 147 ever

The Bills' come-from-behind victory over the Houston Oilers in the 1992 playoffs. We played the game without Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas and Cornelius Bennett -- three of our stars -- and came back from a 35-3 deficit with around 22 minutes left in the game. Our first possession of the second half, Frank Reich's pass was tipped and the Oilers ran it back for a touchdown to make it 35-3. On the kickoff, the kicker flubbed it and somehow hit one of our front five players and they nearly recovered the ball. We got it though, and we scored on the next play. Then we recovered an on-side kick, scored quickly and got back in the game. In seven minutes we scored four touchdowns and had 31 points going into the fourth quarter.

Final score:

Buffalo 41
Houston 38

Keith that was a great one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!      1991 world series MINNESOTA-Kirby Puckett makes game saving catch then proceeds to come up to the plate and hit a homerun to send the series to final game.

That's a tough one. Only the Australians here will get this but any of the Canterbury Bulldogs premierships are high on the list. For an individual moment it would have to be Larry Bird's steal against the Pistons in '87 Conference Finals. For my money it's the single greatest play in the history of the NBA. WHY? Because the Pistons were leading by one, had the ball, only a few seconds left, and only a miracle was going to win it for the Celtics, and a miracle is what happened.

SERGIO!!!!
Ugh, my retirement grease

New England Patriots beating the Rams in the 01 Superbowl. Crushing the Yankee's in the 04' ALCS after being down 0-3 and anytime Tom Brady kneels down at the end of a game.  ;D

1) 1983 NCAA Final - Lorenzo Charles' lay-in at the buzzer secures the win for the Wolfpack of NC State over vaunted - and heavily favored - Phi Slamma Jamma (Hakeem Olajuwon, Clyde Drexler, and Co.) from the University of Houston.

2) Miracle on Ice - 1980 Olympic Hockey Finals - At the height of the Cold War, I've never felt prouder to be an American.  I was just a youngster at the time, but I remember this like it was yesterday.

3) 2005 Masters - Tiger's Chip for Birdie at 16 on Sunday - That ranks as the most improbable golf shot I've ever seen.  The fact that it occured in the final round of the Masters makes it legendary.

Runners-up include:

- Jennifer Capriati winning the 2002 Australian Open after being down a set and 0-4

- Christian Laettner's buzzer-beater vs Kentucky in the 1992 East Regional Final

- Any 5-set win by Andre Agassi

- The "Serena Slam"

- The Miami Heat's "In Your Face, L.A. bitches!" NBA title
