i would say bret hart - never injured an opponent in 25 years + and was probably the most technically sound wrestler ever seen. his tribute match with benoit after Owen died is one of the 3 best matches you'll ever see

Dan Gable is.

During his prep and college careers, Gable compiled an unbelievable record of 182-1. He was undefeated in 64 prep matches, and was 118-1 at Iowa State. His only defeat came in the NCAA finals his senior year. Gable was a three-time all-American and three-time Big Eight champion. He set NCAA records in winning and pin streaks.
After college, Gable added titles at the 1971 Pan American Games, the 1972 Tbilisi Tournament and the 1971 World Championships. He won an unprecedented six Midlands Open championships and was that meet's outstanding wrestler five times. In 1972, he won a gold medal at the Summer Olympics without surrendering a point to any of his opponents. The Soviets came to the Olympics with only one goal in mind; to defeat Gable. They were unsuccessful.

In Gable's final 21 Olympic qualification and Olympic matches, he scored 12 falls and outscored his nine other opponents, 130-1. The single point being scored by Larry Owings, who defeated Gable in his final collegiate match.

That is domination.

I agree with Ric Flair, and Shawn Michaels is also an excellent wrestler, good longevity.

But I have to mention The Undertaker.  He might not be the most technically gifted, but he's been a main event-er for fifteen years, still gets arguably the biggest crowd reaction, best entrance, and still takes a suplex off the top rope!  Not bad for a 6' 10" (?!?) 300lb'er.

Triple H will probably go down as one of the best, but you have to wonder how much of that is from marrying the boss's daughter!

Curt Henning was one hell of a wrestler, his ability was faultless. had the best dropkick in wrestling history with a possible exception being Bob Holly. Rick Rude could sell a match with ease and draw heat with the snap of a finger.

I have footage of a match between Dynamite & Davey Boy vs. Joe & Dean Malenko in Japan.
It was THE ABSOLUTE BEST combination of amateur and pro style I've ever seen.

Dynamite Kid's legendary matches with the original Tiger Mask were also remarkable, even by today's much higher standards.

When I trained with a local "pro" promotion, they made us study those tapes. And if Dynamite had been physically capable, I probably would have sought his tutelage.
I know if he could still walk, he would be involved in the business today - probably training newcomers.

Kox,
I once heard a story about a match between your Dad and Dick Murdoch that took place in, I believe, Louisiana.
It was Bill Watts’s territory.
Anyway, the story also involved a Hershey bar, and ended with people running from the building screaming. :D

I’ve always wondered if that story was true, or is it just a myth?

LOL WOW !

Ya they were working for Watts and before the match my old man stick the Hershey bar in his tights.  After the match had been going on for a while and it got good a melted my dad told Murdoch to give him a atomic drop.  My dad sold it like crazy the ran his hand down in his tights to reveal the melted candy which people thought was shit.   Murdoch and my dad had some great matches including a very bloody one from Japan that I have on tape.  They were best friend up until Dickie's death in 96.  He was also my god father.

Damn I forgot about that. I'm gonna call my old man right now and get better details.  LOL

Yeah, I would imagine the “Cowboy” failed to find the humor in it. ;)

I didn’t know Murdoch had passed.
You have my condolences.

What ever happened to Watts? I know he was booker in WCW around 1989/90(?) – the same time Grizzly Smith was down there. I never heard anything about either one of them after that.

The last time I saw Watts was at a wrestlers reunion they have every year.  He kinda acted like he did not want to be there. He was there for only about a hour then he asked someone where the nearest shopping mall was and he left.  According to my old man Watts was one of the best promoters to work for he treated the boys well and payed well also.
As for Grizzly Smith I think he is living in Louisiana.  I know he Tried to get wrestling going again at the Sportatorium ( spell check ) back in the late 90's but it just did not get going.

KK, I had always heard that Watts was kind of a jerk to work for, especially in the WCW, when he was trying to push Eric, nickel and dimed everybody, etc...

Murdoch was one of my all time favorites back in the day.
